It’s not too long now until The Twilight franchise comes to a look, which will please some and sadden others. But whichever side of the fence you sit on, the new trailer for Breaking Dawn Part 2 suggests an action-packed conclusion, with the Volturi on the warpath due to the birth of Edward and Bella’s child, Renesmee, and the Cullens round up as many vampires as they can to prepare for a fight. The film’s due out November 16th.
Robert Pattinson Joins Queen of the Desert (sadly not a Priscilla sequel)
Robert Pattinson is busy awkwardly doing press for the US release of Cosmopolis and trying to avoid questions about him and Kristen Stewart. He’s also looking to the future as Variety reports he has signed on to star in Queen of the Desert for writer-director Werner Herzog.
Naomi Watts is attached to star as British writer Gertrude Bell in this biopic. The story chronicles her entire life from being one of the first women to graduate from Oxford to her adventures as a writer, explorer, cartographer, archaeologist, and political attaché.
Pattinson will portray T.E. Lawrence, the British officer whose story served as the basis for director David Lean’s 1962 classic Lawrence of Arabia. Lawrence and Bell were longtime friends, who both helped establish the Hashemite dynasties in Jordan and Iraq. Filming is scheduled to begin this autumn.
First Look At Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2’s Renesnee
The first image of Renesmee from The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 has arrived, via EW. At the end of Breaking Dawn Part 1, Renesmee was a newborn, but as you can see from the image above, where she peeps out from behind her mother, she’s growing ridiculously fast! But that’s what happens when you test the uncharted territories of having a half-vampire, half human child.
As this is Twilight, no one is allowed to smile, even for a family portrait, but then with everyone from the wolfpack to the Volturi not being too chuffed about Renesmee’s existence, they probably don’t have much to be cheerful about. The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part 2 hits cinema on November 16th.
Crush Of The Day: Robert Pattinson
Robert Pattinson has been everyone’s Crush Of The Day for the past few years, but with Cosmopolis out on Friday, today he’s gonna be ours. He of course first hit superstardom thanks to the Twilight franchise, but by that time had already done quite a lot of modeling as well as appearing in the likes of Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire, and going slightly homoerotic as Salvador Dali in Little Ashes.
Since then he’s become adored by many straight woman and gay men, thanks to Twilight, as well as the likes of Remember Me, Water For Elephants, Bel Ami and now Cosmopolis. We’ve gathered together some of the hottest pics of R-Patz from his movies and elsewhere, so you can drool all over him a little bit more. [Read more…]
Pattinson and Mortensen May Team For Cronenberg’s Maps to the Stars
Rumours emerged in Cannes last week that Robert Pattinson may work with David Cornenberg again soon, although there was no news what the film might be. However now The Playlist has spoken to the director and got a few more details, which suggests the film may be the dark comedy/drama Map To The Stars, and may not just have Pattinson, but may also star Cronenberg’s other favourite, Viggo Mortensen.
He says, “I asked Rob if he would be interested in playing a particular role in it and he said ‘yes, he would’. Likewise, Viggo [Mortensen] is interested in a role. It would be very interesting. This is a project called Maps To The Stars written by Bruce Wagner who is a wonderful L.A. screenwriter.”
However it’s early days as, “It’s not a go picture. We have a script that I love that Bruce wrote. It’s a very difficult film to get made, as was Cosmopolis actually. Whether I can get this movie to happen, I tried it five years ago, I couldn’t get it made, so I still might not be able to get it made.”
The plot is about two child actors ruined by Hollywood’s depravity. Back when he was trying to make it years ago, he had this to say about the film, “You could say it’s a Hollywood film because the characters are agents, actors and managers, but it is not a satire like The Player. … Hollywood is a world that is seductive and repellent at the same time, and it is the combination of the two that makes it so potent. I won’t fall back on some cliches or simplistic sloganeering, because the culture and what it reveals about Western culture and the rest of the world is very complex.”
New Twilight: Breaking Dawn Part 2 Character Posters
In November the Twilight Saga comes to an end with Breaking Dawn Part 2. To ensure the twi-hards fervour doesn’t dim, three new character posters have been released, showing close-ups of Edward, Bella and Jacob, which you can see above and below.
The last film ended with Bella getting vampiric and a new half-bloodsucker baby being born. This causes all manner of problem in Breaking Dawn Part 2, with the wolfpack angry but Jacob imprinted on the child, the Volturi wanting to assert their power and Bella getting used to her lust for blood. You’ll be able to find out how it all pans out on November 16th.
Cosmopolis UK Trailer & Quad
Cosmopolis is certainly going to be something different for Robert Pattinson and if it works, could result in people seeing in him in a whole new light. Now a new UK quad poster and trailer have arrived, so take a look at them above and below.
Here’s the synopsis: ‘New York is in turmoil, the age of capitalism is drawing to a close and Eric Packer, a high finance golden boy is chauffeured across the city in his extravagant limousine to get a haircut. A visit from the President of the United States paralyses Manhattan and as the day goes by, an eruption of wild activity unfolds on the city’s streets. Eric watches helplessly as his empire collapses and as his paranoia intensifies during the 24-hour period, he starts to piece together clues that lead him to a most terrifying secret: his imminent assassination.’
Robert Pattinson Takes On The Rover Alongside Guy Pearce
Robert Pattinson is gonna go chasing cars with Guy Pearce, or at least they will if they both finalise deals to star in The Rover, which the duo are currently in talks for, according to Deadline.
The film apparently ‘chronicles a man who relentlessly pursues a gang who stole his car through the wild and rough Australian outback of the near future’. It sounds a bit like Pattinson is a Mad Max fan and wants to make his own version.
It’s interesting that this is the second action/thriller project from Pattinson we’ve heard about in the past two days, as yesterday news came through that he was planning to play the interrogator who led the hunt for Saddam Hussein. It suggests an attempt to shift the perception of R-Patz away from romance to the potentially more lucrative action arena. We’ll have to see whether it works.
Robert Pattinson To Track Down Saddam Hussein In Mission: Blacklist
After being thrust into heartthrob territory with Twilight, Robert Pattinson has been trying to show he’s a multi-faceted talent and doesn’t just have to play teen vampires. He’s got the strange intensity of David Cronenberg’s Cosmopolis coming up, and now he’s heading into thriller territory with Mission: Blacklist.
THR reports that the film will follow the true story of the army interrogator who led the capture of Saddam Hussein in 2003. Based on Army interrogator Eric Maddox’s verbosely titled book ‘Mission: Black List #1: The Inside Story of the Search for Saddam Hussein – As Told By the Soldier Who Masterminded His Capture’, the film’s script will be written by Band of Brother’s Erick Jendresen, and directed by Jean-Stephane Sauvaire.
Interestingly while you’d think a film like this would be a military action movie, THR describes it as a psychological thriller, which suggests there’ll be a lot of Pattinson trying to break people down to try and find out where Saddam is hiding.
New Full Cosmopolis Trailer – R-Patz wants a haircut in Cronenberg’s film
There were a lot of raised eyebrows when David Cronenberg cast Robert Pattinson in Cosmopolis, largely because it seemed such a jump from the world of Twilight. However as people started to charge their mind when the teaser trailer debuted, and this new French trailer is likely to further convince people this will show a different side to Pattinson and it’s likely to be intense! The film, based on Don DeLillo’s book, sees R-Patz as young billionaire Eric Packer, who starts out just wanting to get a haircut, but as the day progresses and he travel around New York, he must deal with the fallout from the decisions he’s made in his life. Cosmopolis will compete at Cannes in May should be out in cinemas later this year and it look like it’s gonna be rather unusual.
