New The World’s End Poster, Man Of Steel Banner & Pacific Rim Promo Pic

May 7, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

worlds-end-teaser-poster3A few new pics have surfaced for some much anticipated upcoming movies, including a great new quad poster for the Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright movie, The World’s End, a soaring banner for Man Of Steel and a pic showing off Charlie Hunnam in Pacific Rim.

Pegg and Frost are joined by the likes of Martin Freeman, Eddie Marsan and Paddy Considine in The World’s End. Here’s the synopsis: ’20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hell bent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Pegg), a 40-year old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their home town and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub, The World’s End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realize the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind’s. Reaching The World’s End is the least of their worries.’ The film’s out in the UK on July 19th.

Man Of Steel is out June 14th, and sees Henry Cavill stepping into Clark Kent’s shoes and dealing with the fact he’s the most powerful man on the planet, but has to hide that fact. That’s particularly tested when General Zod (Michael Shannon) arrives on Earth.

Pacific Rim meanwhile is Guillermo Del Toro’s movie about monsters spilling out of the Pacific and humanity fighting back by building enormous human-piloted robots. Charlie Hunnam plays one of those pilots, Raleigh Drake. It’s out July 12th.

Star Trek Into Darkness Clip – Should Chris Pine allow Zachary Quinto to die?

April 23, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The first extended clip from Star Trek Into Darkness has arrived, which comes from early in the movie – indeed those who caught the IMAX prologue that was attached to The Hobbit will recognise much of the footage, although it’s been slightly tweaked for the final film.

It sees Spock stuck in a volcano and the only way to save him is to break the Prime Directive – which say Starfleet must not interfere in the development of more primitive civilisations. Will they break the rule to save Spock? Will he die? Why are Kirk and McCoy wearing shiny skin-tight suits?

We’ll be able to find out the answers when the film hits cinemas in the UK on May 9th and May 17th in the US.

New Star Trek Into Darkness Trailer – Chris Pine takes on Benedict Cumberbatch

March 21, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Paramount has released a new trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness. Now an action-packed new teaser trailer has been released, featuring some fresh footage, with Kirk zooming all over space and wanting to take on Benedict Cumberbatch’s incredibly destructive villain. Plus the Enterprise crashes!

There’s also a few things in there that will certainly reignite speculation that Cumberbatch is actually playing Khan.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘It says, ‘In Summer 2013, pioneering director J.J. Abrams will deliver an explosive action thriller that takes Star Trek Into Darkness. When the crew of the Enterprise is called back home, they find an unstoppable force of terror from within their own organization has detonated the fleet and everything it stands for, leaving our world in a state of crisis.

‘With a personal score to settle, Captain Kirk leads a manhunt to a war-zone world to capture a one man weapon of mass destruction. As our heroes are propelled into an epic chess game of life and death, love will be challenged, friendships will be torn apart, and sacrifices must be made for the only family Kirk has left: his crew.’
The film hits UK cinemas on May 9th, 2013, with a US release on May 17th.

Paranorman Studio Laika Announces Boxtrolls, With A Great Voice Cast Attached

February 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

here-be-monsters-alan-snowAfter the Oscar-nominated success of Paranorman, animation studio Laika has revealed their third movie, The Boxtrolls, based in Alan Snow‘s book Here Be Monsters! Open Season co-director Anthony Stacchi and Coraline/ParaNorman story artist Graham Annable are set to direct the movie, which already has an impressive voice cast attached.

Ben Kingsley, Toni Collette, Elle Fanning, Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, Richard Ayoade, Tracy Morgan, Jared Harris, and Isaac Hempstead-Wright are all set to lend their dulcet tones to the 3D stop-motion/CG hybrid, which has already entered production with a October 17th, 2014 release set.

Here’s a rundown of the plot: ‘The Boxtrolls is a comedic fable that unfolds in Cheesebridge, a posh Victorian-era town obsessed with wealth, class, and the stinkiest of fine cheeses. Beneath its charming cobblestone streets dwell the Boxtrolls, foul monsters who crawl out of the sewers at night and steal what the townspeople hold most dear: their children and their cheeses. At least, that’s the legend residents have always believed.

‘In truth, the Boxtrolls are an underground cavern-dwelling community of quirky and lovable oddballs who wear recycled cardboard boxes the way turtles wear their shells. The Boxtrolls have raised an orphaned human boy, Eggs (voiced by Mr. Hempstead-Wright), since infancy as one of their dumpster-diving and mechanical junk-collecting own. When the Boxtrolls are targeted by villainous pest exterminator Archibald Snatcher (Mr. Kingsley), who is bent on eradicating them as his ticket to Cheesebridge society, the kindhearted band of tinkerers must turn to their adopted charge and adventurous rich girl Winnie (Ms. Fanning) to bridge two worlds amidst the winds of change – and cheese.’

Deadline has posted some concept art from the film, which you can see below.

Three New World’s End Pics Arrive, And Edgar Wright Talks About The Movie

February 1, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Worlds-End-pic4
There are an awful lot of people out there very excited about The World’s End, the final part of Simon Pegg, Nick Frost and Edgar Wright’s Three Flavors Cornetto trilogy (following Shaun Of The Dead and Hot Fuzz). Now a trio of new images have arrive, two from Empire and one via IGN.

IGN also had a chat Edgar Wright about the movie, which he describes as,”It’s a boy’s night out movie gone wrong.”

He also talked about how the three movies fit together, saying, “We have tried to make them like a thematic trilogy. Because Hot Fuzz is slightly different from Shaun but they share aspects, and this too. They’re all different stories with different characters but they have thematic similarities that me and Simon are slightly obsessed with. But Shaun was about where we live – our neighborhood in North London. And then Hot Fuzz was about going back home. Home for me and Simon in terms of a small town. But this one is about looking backwards. It’s more nostalgic. I think a lot about my adolescence and my teenage years and things I’d do differently. I have grand fantasies of going back in time and doing things better. Back to when I was 15 or 16. So there’s an element of that – whether it’s healthy to look or go backwards. That’s kind of what the theme of the film is.”

As for the map in the pic above, Wright says, “That’s his map of the pubs in Newton Haven, which he had as a teenager. You can see on the map that nine pubs are crossed out because when they were teenagers they only got through nine of the 12 pubs. And he’s kept that map. Simon went through a goth phase. If you’ve read Simon’s autobiography there are pictures of him as an Echo and the Bunnymen/Sisters of Mercy fan. And he did dye his hair black, so we thought that was a way to make him look distinctly different. The funny thing is I think he kind of pulls it off. He doesn’t look too tragic to me.”

There’s also been much talk about the supernatural threat the friends on a pub crawl face, but Wright is keeping quiet about that. “It’s not that there are major twists,” he says, “I always feel there are some films that I wish I’d seen cold, so I’d love to try and retain a little bit of mystery.”

Pike And Plummer Join Pegg In Hector & The Search For Happiness

September 7, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A while ago, Simon Pegg signed up to star in Hector & The Search For Happiness, for director Peter Chelsom. Now he’s got some co-stars as Variety reports that Rosamund Pike and Simon Pegg have signed up to appear in the movie.

The movie is an adaptation of Francis Lelord’s novel, which centres on a London psychiatrist, who goes on a global quest when his patients can’t find happiness. Pike will play the role of Clara, Hector’s long-term girlfriend, while Plummer is attached as Professor Coreman, a leading guru for Happiness Studies at UCLA.

Pike is also starring alongside Pegg in The World’s End, so hopefully the two of them get along well.

The World’s End Lands Paddy Considine

September 6, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Hot Fuzz star Paddy Considine will reunite with Simon Pegg, Nick Frost, and director Edgar Wright on The World’s End, the last in their Three Flavors Cornetto comedy trilogy, according to Variety.

The movie is about five friends who get back together 20 years after a memorable pub crawl, where the goal was to make it to the bar known as The World’s End. When they try to recreate the event, they stumble upon a plot that could endanger all of mankind. Paddy Considine will play a divorced architect, who was a promiscuous musician when they first made the bar crawl. Rosamund Pike plays the female lead, who has a romantic history with Simon Pegg’s character.

Edgar Wright is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Simon Pegg. Filming begins next month.
