First Look At Willem Dafoe As Gay Director Pier Paolo Pasolini

March 21, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

willem-dafoe-pasolini1
The first pictures of Willem Dafoe as famed gay director Pier Paolo Pasolini have emerged, which you can see above and below.

Italian director Pier Paolo Pasolini certainly lived an interesting life, growing up in Mussolini’s Italy (his father actually saved the dictator’s life), becoming a communist before being thrown out after being charged with committing lewd acts in a public place, which was the first of several legal battles, partly based on the Italian government’s initial antipathy to him.

Those lewd act charges also meant that he was out as gay whether he wanted to be or not.

He then became a renowned but controversial director, helming films such as The Decameron, The Gospel According to Matthew and Salo or the 120 Days of Sodom. Tragically in 1975 he was murdered. A 17-year-old rent boy was convicted of the crime, but in recent years there has been speculation he was killed as part of an extortion plot or due to anger at his communist leanings.

The film, Pasolini, follows the directors final days and the confusion over his death. It’s directed by Bad Lieutenant’s Abel Ferrara, who told Variety,  “Seeing Salo was a great moment for me. Pasolini was not just a great film director, he was a philosopher, a poet, a journalist who wrote editorials, a communist but a Catholic who opposed birth control, a radical, a free-thinker on every level. There are not a lot of people about whom you could say that their death changed the course of history, but Pasolini was one.”

New Nymphomaniac: Volume 1 Trailer – Is there more to Lars Von Trier’s movie than sex?

February 14, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

After a lot of buzz and interest, it’s not too long now until audiences will get to take a look at Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac, with the release of Part 1 of the two part film. While most people have concentrated on the success, the largely positive reviews have suggested there’s more to the movie than that, and this trailer gives us a feel for that, as it certainly doesn’t bother with any of the hardcore shots the movie contains.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film is a wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Charlotte Gainsbourg). On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Stellan Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. He brings her home to his flat where he cares for her wounds while asking her about her life. He listens intently as Joe over the next 8 chapters recounts the lushly branched-out and multi-faceted story of her life, rich in associations and interjecting incidents.’

Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Uma Thurman, Connie Neilsen and Stacy Martin also star. It should arrive in the UK in March. [Read more…]

Starring: Anton Yelchin, Addison Timlin, Willem Dafoe, Nico Tortorella
Director: Stephen Sommers
Running Time: 97 mins

Stephen Sommers has spent most of the past 15-years in mega-budget movie territory with the first two The Mummy movies, Van Helsing and G.I. Joe. However now he’s lowered the budget substantially and made something a bit more personal, although still with plenty of effects and a large dose of the supernatural. [Read more…]

Nymphomaniac Trailer – Take a NSFW look at Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell & more in Lars Von Trier’s next

November 22, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nymphomaniac-poster2
For the first time in his career, Lars Von Trier has given up final cut for Nymphomaniac, largely because the version he’s happy with is 5 1/2 hours long, and even he realised that was never going to be commercially released. The last we heard there was talk of cutting it down to two 2-hour films, which is how it’ll apparently be coming (although there’s still a chance VOn Trier’s butt-numbing version will appear one day at festivals, apparently).

They’ve also dropped plans for hardcore and softcore versions, as there will now just be a the one with full-on sex, but distributors around the globe will be free to blur out whatever bits they reckon are two rude. We get a taste of that rudeness in the trailer.

Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Christian Slater, Willem Dafoe, Uma Thurman, Connie Neilsen and Stacy Martin also star. It should arrive in the UK next March.

Take a look at the new poster above and the rude trailer, but beware as it is indeed NSFW. [Read more…]

Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell & More Show Off Their Sex Faces In Nymphomanic Character Posters

October 11, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

nymphomaniac-character-poster1-slide
The few clips we’ve had from Lars Von Trier’s Nymphomaniac have been fairly tame for a movie that’s said to be filled with sex, which will result in the director needing to edit both hardcore and softcore versions for different parts of the world.

Now things are getting a little sexier with 14 characters posters showing off the cast, and they all seem to be having a great time!

We’re still waiting to see how the sex works in the movie, as while Von Trier has said it will be real, there’s also been talk of some of the actors having their heads stitched onto body doubles digitally. So whether we will get to see the likes of Shia LaBeouf, Jamie Bell, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Willem Dafoe and Stellan Skarsgard really getting intimate on screen, we’ll have to wait and see.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The film is a wild and poetic story of a woman’s erotic journey from birth to the age of 50 as told by the main character, the self-diagnosed nymphomaniac, Joe (Gainsbourg). On a cold winter’s evening the old, charming bachelor, Seligman (Skarsgard), finds Joe beaten up in an alley. Willem Dafoe Returning as Gill in Finding Dory

October 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

willem-dafoeWe already knew that Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres were returning for Pixar’s Finding Dory, and now another Nemo star has revealed he’s coming back. Willem Dafoe has confirmed that he is once more voicing Gill in the movie.

The actor said in a recent interview, “Yeah I’ve already started. It’s even better than the first. It’s fantastic. It’s good to say I think it’s going to be better than the first; that’s good advertising! It’s difficult to repeat a success and so many years afterwards, but it’s really cool. I’ve done one session so far and I just am going to have such a good time.”

Gill is one of the fish from the dentist’s aquarium who ended up helping Nemo after he was captured.

Brooks and DeGeneres will once more be Marlin and Dory, while Diane Keaton and Eugene Levy have signed up to be Dory’s mother and father, along with Ty Burrell as Bailey. The story revolves around Dory finally reuniting with her family.

Andrew Stanton directs from a screenplay by Victoria Strouse (Little Fockers). It’ll be out summer 2016.
