Phase Two of Marvel’s cinematic universe is moving forward fast, with the latest news being that Zoe Saldana is in talks to play the female lead Gamora in ensemble adventure Guardians of the Galaxy, according to THR.
Gamora made her first appearance in the Marvel comic books back in 1975. She is a green-skinned assassin who is the last of a race that was wiped out by the Baldoon. She is also the adopted daughter of the villain Thanos, who made his presence known during the end credit scene of Marvel’s The Avengers.
Gamora’s powers include super-human strength, agility, and healing abilities.
If her deal is finalised, she’ll join Chris Pratt and Dave Bautista in the movie. James Gunn is directing the film which will star shooting in the UK in June – just after Saldana has completed doing the publicity rounds for Star Trek Into Darkness.
