A couple of months ago news emerged that Christian Bale had signed on to play the central role in a biopic of Enzo Ferrari that director Michael Mann has been planning for many years.
Now THR adds that Noomi Rapace is in talks to star, with Paramount picking up the project to fund it.
The film apparently concentrates on a single year, 1957. That year is particularly significant for the Italian car-maker, as it was when Ferrari driver, Alfonso de Portago, was killed during the Mille Miglia race. The driver and nine spectators died when a tire blew out and his car careened into the roadside crowd.
It caused a major crisis for Ferrari that could have destroyed the company, especially as Enzo was charged with manslaughter over the event. Rapace would play Farrari’s wife, Laura Dominica.
