Allen Hughes seems to be having more luck than his brother Albert. While Albert has had difficulty getting a movie off the ground since the siblings decided to direct separately, Allen’s Broken City will be out in a few months, and now he is set to direct a remake of the 2005 Korean crime thriller A Bittersweet Life, for 20th Century Fox and New Regency.

A Bittersweet Life follows the story of a mob enforcer and manager of a hotel who is tasked with following his boss’ mistress. The man is ordered to kill the mistress if its discovered she is having an affair. When a secret tryst comes to light, the enforcer beats up the mistress’ second lover and tells them to never speak of the incident, as he has fallen for the mistress himself and does not want to see her life ended.

Anthony Peckham, the man behind the scripts for Sherlock Holmes and Invictus, will write this remake. The film is being fast tracked by the studio, who want it for go into production early next year. (Source: Deadline)
