The new version of Annie isn’t too far away, with a Christmas release set for the film which takes the classic musical and updates it to the modern day. And with Will Smith and Jay-Z both involved with updating the score, it should also be a little funkier.
The plot also remains the same, with little orphan Annie (Quvenzhane Wallis) having a hard-luck life in the foul orphanage run by Miss Hannigan (Cameron Diaz). She’s then taken in by the filthy rich Benjamin Stacks (Jamie Foxx). In this version he’s running for office and initially just wants Annie so the press will see him being nice to an orphan, but he soon falls for the plucky youngster’s charms. But then Annie’s real parents are found, or are they?
