Matt Damon Looks Ripped In A New Elysium Image

April 13, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Matt Damon sure must have spent a lot of time in the gym in the last year or so. A few days ago we had him looking incredibly hot as he got out of a swimming pool in the trailer for Behind The Candelabra, and now he’s rocking some impressive abs in a new image from Elysium.

We’re still not sure if he suits a shaved head, but the rest of him is looking fine.

The trailer for Elysium dropped a couple of days ago, and you can watch that here. Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.’

Neill Blomkamp’s film hits US cinemas on August 9th and will arrive in the UK in September.

Elysium Trailer – Major sci-fi class warfare between Matt Damon and Jodie Foster

April 10, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

As we were promised, the trailer for Elysium has arrived, which is presumably so that it can get some interest just as Oblivion is released, which at least superficially seems to be rather similarly themed. It certainly look pretty cool, with great visual and an interesting idea behind it.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. New Posters For Elysium, The Lone Ranger & Hangover Part III Released

April 9, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

elysium-poster1More new posters have emerged for some of this year’s most anticipated movies – Elysium, The Longer Ranger and The Hangover Part III. The Elysium poster above comes just a few hours before we’ve been promised the first trailer for the movie, which sees Matt Damon as a man living on a ruined Earth, who becomes a threat to the elite, who live way above the surface in a place called Elysium. The film hits cinemas this summer.

The Hangover Part III meanwhile sees the Wolf Pack returning to Las Vegas. This time there’s no bachelor party of wedding, but mayhem inevitably ensues as the boys go for one final blowout. It’s out May 24th.

The Lone Ranger has released two character posters featuring Armie Hammer as the title character and Johnny Depp as Tonto. The mega-budget take on the classic character is out in July.

New Pics Of Matt Damon In Elysium Emerge

April 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s been a long wait for Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to District 9, but Elysium is heading our way in a few months, with an August 9th US release and a September 20th UK release now set.

The sci-fi flick is set in 2159 when two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.

Now a couple of new pics have emerged. If you’re wondering what the cobbled together tech that Damon is wearing is, it’s machinery that’s prolonging his life, but which makes him a threat to Elysium. The other pics features Wagner Moura, and Alice Braga.

First Look At Sharlto Copley In Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium

December 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

elysium-sharlto-copleyWe’ve been waiting years for Neill Blomkamp to make another movie following the success of District 9, but now Elysium is on its way. We’ve still got a little time until the film’s September 20th 2013 UK release, but to help prove it really is coming, Empire has released an image of Sharlto Copley as the movie’s villain, Kruger.

Copley’s also been talking his character in the sci-fi thriller, saying comments he made a few months ago likening Kruger to Heath Ledger’s Joker, were taken out of context. He says, “The Joker was a mistaken reference. I was really just saying that that was the last time I saw a villain that inspired me: somebody that set the bar. There’s no connection or likeness to The Joker in terms of the character. What I did with him – which I try to do with all my original characters – was draw from real life. I combined references from a very infamous South African military battalion called 32 Battalion, that fought in the Border Wars in South Africa, and a stereotype of character that you get in the south of Johannesburg, where the guys are a little bit more comfortable with violence!”

Elysium stars Matt Damon alongside Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Sonia Braga, and Diego Luna. Here’s the official synopsis: ‘In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. Matt Damon Is A Baldie In A New Elysium Photo

November 20, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We’ve had to wait a long time for Neill Blomkamp’s follow-up to District 9, but now it’s on its way, with Elysium now in post-production and preparing for release next August. Now a new image from the movie has arrived, with Matt Damon rocking the balding look and wearing a gun and a load of hydraulics.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the year 2159, two classes of people exist: the very wealthy, who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Delacourt (Jodie Foster) will stop at nothing to preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium – but that doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in by any means they can. Max (Matt Damon) agrees to take on a life-threatening mission, one that could bring equality to these polarized worlds.’

Like District 9, it will have a sci-fi plot but parallel real social themes, and it’ll be interesting to see if Blomkamp can handle that as well this time as he did with his previous movie. It also stars Sharlto Copley, William Fichtner, Alice Braga, Diego Luna and Wagner Moura.

First Image Of Matt Damon In Elysium Surfaces

July 5, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Matt Damon is rocking the shaved head look and showing off his oversized gun (really, that thing is ridiculous) in the first image from Elysium, which The Playlist has scanned from the latest issue of EW. The movie is Neill Blomkamp’s long-awaited follow-up to District 9, and stars Damon alongside Jodie Foster, Sharlto Copley, Wagner Moura, William Fichtner, Sonia Braga, and Diego Luna.

That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.’ The film’s currently due out March, 2013.

Full Synopsis For Neill Blomkamp’s Elysium Released

June 15, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s taken Neill Blomkamp quite a while to get his follow-up to District 9 sorted out, but he’s now filmed Elysium, with Matt Damon and Jodie Foster starring. However the movie has been shrouded in mystery, with the main info we’ve had being that it’s a sci-fi tale laced with socio-political concerns.

However now a much better synopsis has been released via Collider, which says: ‘In the year 2159 two classes of people exist: the very wealthy who live on a pristine man-made space station called Elysium, and the rest, who live on an overpopulated, ruined Earth. Secretary Rhodes (Jodie Foster), a hard line government official, will stop at nothing to enforce anti-immigration laws and preserve the luxurious lifestyle of the citizens of Elysium. That doesn’t stop the people of Earth from trying to get in, by any means they can. When unlucky Max (Matt Damon) is backed into a corner, he agrees to take on a daunting mission that if successful will not only save his life, but could bring equality to these polarized worlds.’

The first test screenings are about to take place, with a release planned for March 2013. It’s a potentially interesting plot, but will very much depend on the execution, something Blomkamp can hopefully pull off.
