Joel Edgerton’s star is rising as an actor and now he’s hoping to get a bit of kudos as a screenwriter too, as THR reports he’s just sold his first script, with New Regency purchasing his spec screenplay, One Night Stand. Although many actors write films to give themselves juicy roles, the Warrior star is attached as an executive producer, but will not star.
Not a vast amount is known about the movie, although it’s described as a drama with comedic elements that offers an honest look at the aftermath of a one night stand, from both the man and woman’s perspectives.
New Regency executives Brad Weston and Carla Hacken are said to be very excited about the script, and will start meeting with directors in the next few weeks. Producing One Night Stand will add to Edgerton’s already busy year, as he’ll also be seen in Wish You Were Here, which debuts at the Sundance Film Festival this week, The Odd Life of Timothy Green, which is out in the summer and The Great Gatsby at Christmas.
