Back in 2012 Sinister was a surprise success, being far creepier and effective than anyone had expected. As soon as it became a hit a sequel was announced, which was initially planned to come out only a year after the first movie.
It’s taken a little longer than that, but original writers Scott Derrickson and C. Robert Cargill are now back with Ciaran Foy (Citadel) directing (Derrickson was also due to helm, but stepped aside when he signed on the make Marvel’s Doctor Strange).
Here’s the synopsis: ‘In the aftermath of the shocking events in “Sinister,” a protective mother (Shannyn Sossamon of “Wayward Pines”) and her 9-year-old twin sons (real-life twins Robert and Dartanian Sloan) find themselves in a rural house marked for death as the evil spirit of Bughuul continues to spread with frightening intensity.’
The trailer suggests this won’t be a movie that tries to reinvent the wheel, instead going for some old-school horror thriller. The movie is due out in August. [Read more…]
