After a series of flops, the Fast & Furious franchise has become ridiculously important to Universal, which puts the stars of the films in a very good position with the studio. As a result and despite the fact Paul Walker doesn’t really have much of a career outside the fast-car films, he’s signed a two-year first look deal with Universal to develop other movies.
According to Variety, the first project under this agreement is the action thriller Skyscraper, based on an original idea by Mike Sobel. There’s no news on the plot though, but Paul Walker will executive produce and star.
The action star said this about the relationship with the studios: “I’ve had a long and successful relationship with Universal so it’s the obvious and ideal home for Laguna Ridge Pictures [his production company]. I’m excited to expand my relationship with them.”
