This year’s Comic Con has been quieter on big movie news that usual, but one major bit of news concerns Warner/DC’s plans for a solo adventure for the rebooted Batman, which it’s been revealed that Ben Affleck won’t just star in, he’ll also direct.
Ben also plans to co-write the movie alongside DC Comics’ chief creative officer Geoff Johns. Apparently the decision grew out of the shared creative vision Affleck and Johns found they had while on the set of Batman Vs. Superman. They’re already started work on a script.
It won’t be Affleck’s next directorial outing as he’s due to start shooting Live By Night in September. The solo adventure is unlikely to be in cinemas before 2019 at the earliest, by which time we’ll have seen how the Caped Crusader is affected by both Batman Vs Superman and the Justice League movies.
