In the 1990s, half of the movie made by Hollywood were based on John Grisham books and the other half were based on Michael Crichton novel. However we haven’t had a Grisham movie since 2004, and even tthat was the rather un-Grisham Christmas With The Kranks (based on his novella Skipping Christmas).
More recently there have been plans to turn the author’s 1997 book The Partner into a film, with Variety reporting that Mark Wahlberg is in talks to take on the lead role. The book is about a young Mississippi attorney who fakes his own death in order to swindle millions of dollars from his law firm. While this initially works, things get increasingly difficult, especially when a murder charge raises its head.
Blind Side helmer John Lee recently signed up to direct the movie, but he’s apparently since moved on, and now producer Arnon Milchan is busy searching for a replacement. Incidentally, Milchan is a bit of a Grisham veteran having been involved in adaptations of The Client, A Time to Kill, and Runaway Jury.
