Following the success of Chronicle, Josh Trank became a hugely in-demand young man. He’s already attached to Sony’s planned Venom movie, there was talk he may take on The Fantastic Four, and now Deadline reports that he’s got another comic book project in the work.
He’s signed up for The Red Star, based on Christian Gossett’s award-winning comic that imagines an alternate USSR where advanced technology lives side-by-side with magic. While the story sprawls over various subjects, the main thrust is a soldier fighting to kill a fascist ruler. It would certainly be an ambitious movie, and it’s be a relatively brave move to give it the greenlight, but Trank’s now going to work to make that happen.
It’ll also be interesting to see what Trank can do when he’s got a bit of money to play with.
