First Official Pics From Live-Action Beauty & The Beast Arrive

November 2, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

beauty-and-the-beast-ew-coverWhile a few images from Disney’s upcoming Beauty & The Beast have been floating around, it’s only now that the House Of Mouse has officially released some, with the EW cover above, and some stills from the movie below. It gives us our first proper look at a CGI-assisted Dan Stevens as the Beast, with Emma Watson wearing the iconic yellow dress as Belle.

Alongside that, below you can see Luke Evans as Gaston, Josh Gad as Lefou, Kevin Kline as Maurice (Belle’s dad), as well as Cogsworth, Lumiere and some of the Beast’s other enchanted servants, who will be voiced by Ian McKellan, Emma Thompson, Ewan McGregor, and Gugu Mbatha-Raw.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” is a live-action re-telling of the studio’s animated classic which refashions the classic characters from the tale as old as time for a contemporary audience, staying true to the original music while updating the score with several new songs. “Beauty and the Beast” is the fantastic journey of Belle, a bright, beautiful and independent young woman who is taken prisoner by a beast in his castle. Despite her fears, she befriends the castle’s enchanted staff and learns to look beyond the Beast’s hideous exterior and realize the kind heart and soul of the true Prince within. The film stars: Emma Watson as Belle; Dan Stevens as the Beast; Luke Evans as Gaston, the handsome, but shallow villager who woos Belle; Oscar® winner Kevin Kline as Maurice, Belle’s eccentric, but lovable father; Josh Gad as Lefou, Gaston’s long-suffering aide-de-camp; Golden Globe® nominee Ewan McGregor as Lumiere, the candelabra; Oscar nominee Stanley Tucci as Maestro Cadenza, the harpsichord; Gugu Mbatha-Raw as Plumette, the feather duster; six-time Tony Award® winner Audra McDonald as Madame Garderobe, the wardrobe; Oscar nominee Ian McKellen as Cogsworth, the mantel clock; and two-time Academy Award® winner Emma Thompson as the teapot, Mrs. Potts.

‘Directed by Oscar® winner Bill Condon from a screenplay by TBD based on the 1991 animated film, the film is produced by Mandeville Films’ David Hoberman and Todd Lieberman with eight-time Oscar-winning composer Alan Menken, who won two Academy Awards® (Best Original Score and Best Song) for the 1991 animated film, providing the score, which will include new recordings of the original songs written by Menken and Howard Ashman, as well as several new songs written by Menken and three-time Oscar winner Tim Rice.’

The film will in in cinemas next March. [Read more…]

The Angry Birds Movie Trailer – Jason Sudeikis takes on the furious avians

January 27, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Angry-Birds-Movie-pic1-slideAlthough videogame to movie adaptations don’t have a great track record in Hollywood, you’d think Sony would be on to a sure thing with the insanely popular smartphone game Angry Birds. It may not have a strong plot, but the game is full of characters that should work well on the big screen.

Now the trailer is here, which you can see below.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘The movie takes us to an island populated entirely by happy, flightless birds – or almost entirely. In this paradise, Red (Jason Sudeikis, We’re the Millers, Horrible Bosses), a bird with a temper problem, speedy Chuck (Josh Gad in his first animated role since Frozen), and the volatile Bomb (Danny McBride, This is the End, Eastbound and Down) have always been outsiders. Pixels (Blu-ray Review)

December 7, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Adam Sandler, Kevin James, Michelle Monaghan, Josh Gad, Peter Dinklage
Director: Chris Columbus
Running Time: 106 mins
Certificate: 12
Release Date: December 7th 2015 (UK)

Things have gone crazy with the world in Pixels. For a start we’re supposed to believe the American people have voted Kevin James to be their President, and also that if the POTUS is your bestie, you’re still going to have to work as a home entertainment installer. If that doesn’t suggest things are bad enough, the world is suddenly attacked by aliens whose army takes the form of 1980s 8-bit video game characters – from Centipede to Space Invaders – and starts destroying things by pixelating them.

The military can’t defeat them as they don’t know the rules of the games, so it’s down to Brenner (Adam Sandler), Ludlow (Josh Gad) and the arrogant and unstable Eddie (Peter Dinklage) – who were videogame champions when they were kids in the 80s – to take down the unusual invaders. [Read more…]

New Pixels Trailer – Adam Sandler & co. must save the world from videogames

May 19, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pixels-slide1Pixels is a bit of a wildcard for this summer season, hoping that audiences will be hungry for some effects driven comedy, despite a rather mixed record for that type of movie. It is based on a neat concept though and has a good cast.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘As kids in the 1980s, Sam Brenner (Adam Sandler), Will Cooper (Kevin James), Ludlow Lamonsoff (Josh Gad), and Eddie “The Fire Blaster” Plant (Peter Dinklage) saved the world thousands of times – at 25 cents a game in the video arcades. Now, they’re going to have to do it for real. In Pixels, when intergalactic aliens discover video feeds of classic arcade games and misinterpret them as a declaration of war, they attack the Earth, using the video games as the models for their assaults — and now-U.S. President Cooper must call on his old-school arcade friends to save the world from being destroyed by PAC-MAN, Donkey Kong, Galaga, Centipede, and Space Invaders. Joining them is Lt. Col. Violet Van Patten (Michelle Monaghan), a specialist supplying the arcaders with unique weapons to fight the aliens.’

The movie will be in UK cinemas. [Read more…]

Josh Gad Joins Disney’s Live-Action Beauty and the Beast

March 14, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

josh-gadWhile Disney’s live-action fairytale films over the past few years have essentially been riffs on the studio’s classic animated movies, the more we hear about the planned Beauty and the Beast live-action flick, the closer it sounds to the wonderful 1991 film.

Now we have more evidence of that, as THR reports that Josh Gad is set to play Lefou, a character created for the animated movie, who is the sycophantic sidekick of the arrogant Gaston (who will be played by Luke Evans). It also adds to the still unconfirmed idea that this will use the Oscar-winning songs too, as Gad found huge success in The Book Of Mormon on Broadway and as singing snowman Olaf in Disney’s Frozen.

Emma Watson is the Beauty ad Dan Stevens is the Beast is the movie, which Bill Condon is set to direct. No release date has been set, but it’s expected to shoot this summer.
