Derek Jarman is undoubtedly one of Britain’s most important gay film directors, making films that both directly looked at homosexuality or which look at life through gay eyes. The London Barbican is screening Jarman’s 1990 film, The Garden, this Sunday April 21st 2013 at 7pm, introduced by Film Editor at Metro London, Larushka Ivan-Zadh.
If you’ll be in London on Sunday, it’s well worth going along to watch the film, which uses the emotive landscapes of Jarman’s coastal home near Dungeness power station, intensely exploring attitudes toward homosexuality, AIDS and the Church, and features an early screen performance by actress Tilda Swinton.
The Barbican is offering 20% off standard price tickets for the event. To redeem this fantastic offer, simply enter promotional code 19413 when booking online. For more information or to book tickets, visit barbican.org.uk/film.
