Back in July Steve Grand went from unknown to instant celebrity thanks to his video for All-American Boy, which showed off his talent, body and the fact that he’s gay – the latter of which is particularly unusual for country music, which doesn’t exactly have a lot of out gay guys in its ranks.
Now he’s back with Stay, which is another good song with a great video, filled with more shirtless boys and an all-American vibe, while not denying the singer’s sexuality.
And it’s clear that Steve has no intention of spending all that time in the gym and then not letting the world know (and his past as underwear model certainly means he’s not shy about showing off his pecs.
Take a look below.
There is something magical and idealic about this video and song. Like an Ambercrombie & Fitch catalog. It’s beautiful and ideal and for those same reasons it’d be considered glorious to some and intimidating or off putting to others. In life, “the tyranny of beauty” has be kind to these good looking people. My personal preference would be to have them done a video where a cast of sub characters are included and their loves celebrated in this video too. Such as a few geeks, a few over/under weight people and a mix of sexualities… with people all sing the chorus “stay with me” a few times while facing the person they like, and video edits show a wider variety of types of people who all magically celebrate love together… Without the politic and ideal of beauty being such a strong theme in the video. Clearly our star is beautiful, and has beautiful friends. But where are the misfits like me?
