As anyone who’s been reading this site for a while will know, we like the Andrew Christian videos here as BGPS. Many of them are impressively sexy. However we’re in two minds about this one.
We’re presuming the idea was to celebrate Pride month and to tell an empowering tale of a bullied young gay lad who realises there’s power in community and to stand up for who he is.
However when you actually watch it, it appears to say that the way to renounce your gayness is by taking off sexy underwear. Then you get it back by seeing well-toned guys walking down the street and imagining them nearly naked. It also appears, inadvertently or not, to be promoting a message that empowerment is only for a very narrow band of young, fit things who have the body to prance around Pride wearing very little (and many people don’t agree with that side of Pride to start with).
But hey, Andrew Christian is an underwear company, so I suppose it would be asking a bit much to expect well thought out social deconstruction and a full reflection of the gay community in amongst the attempts to sell undies.
Take a look at the vid below and make up your own minds.
we love the Andrew Christian videos!
