Project X’s Miles Teller Doesn’t Like Kissing Guys – ‘I was literally like pretty upset about that’

March 2, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Miles-TellerIt’s always annoying when someone makes a comment which, while not actively homophobic, still casts something gay as the sort of disgusting thing nobody would want anything to do with. That certainly seems true of Miles Teller, star of Project X and Footloose, who seems to think kissing a guy is something that’s just for comedy, and even then you’d better not use tongue.

Talking to California’s Metro News about his upcoming movie, 21 & Over, the subject got around to a scene where he ends up kissing another man. It turns out that not only is this a terrible thing to ask an actor to do, but he even tried to get rid of it (and not because he thought it was homophobic).

He says, “I know when you read the script or agree to do a movie, you know you’re going to agree to do everything. The nudity stuff, I just made sure I worked out, you know what I mean? Because some movies you don’t have time. You can work out before a movie, but then when you’re shooting there’s really no time. I know some actors do it, and people should really give them credit because they’re working 14 hours a day, it’s exhausting, and then working out and getting like five hours of sleep. It’s pretty tough. So for this I just made sure I worked out, and the (guy-on-guy) kissing scene was something I tried to get rid of for a while. I was literally like pretty upset about that. And then we did it and it was just like CPR.”

And least he agrees that in the end it wasn’t such a big deal, although he does then screw it up when asked whether he was upset about it. “Kiss a guy? Yes. Inevitably, I did it for comedy,” he says. “But they wanted me to use the tongue and I said, ‘Nope. It’s not that funny, man.’ ”

So remember guys, don’t ask Miles Teller for a kiss. However Zac Efron, Teller’s co-star in this summer’s Are We Officially Dating? is another matter. Zac would probably say no, but it’s worth asking! (Thanks to Out for the tip to the interview)
