Back in January a Wall Street Journal article went viral, which was all about a group of men, who are now in the 40s, who’ve been playing a game of tag for 23 years. Unsurprisingly the idea peaked the interest of Hollywood, with New Line snapping up the rights.
Now the project is moving forward, with TheWrap reporting that Will Ferrell and Jack Black are attached to star.
The game of tag started in high school, and has continued since, but with certain rules. The 10 men spend 11 months of their lives living normally, but for the entirety of February, whoever is ‘it’ has to try and find one of the others to tag. There are no geographic limitations, with the main aim not to be the last one in the month to be ‘it’, as then you have to remain that way for the next 11 months.
The game has taken the guys across country, caused injuries, paranoia and all manner of creative ways for one person to tag the next.
It could certainly make a fun film, with Ferrell & Black seeming like good choices for the men who haven’t completely grown up. There’s no news on when it might shoot.
