Emma Watson may have been busy proving there’s more to her than Harry Potter with movies such as Perks Of Being A Wallflower and Bling Ring, but now she’s reteaming with Potter producer David Heyman to bring the acclaimed novel series Queen of the Tearling to the screen, according to Variety.
Warner Bros. is set to distribute the fantasy adventure, which has been described as a female Game of Thrones. It’s about a malevolent Red Queen who holds considerable power in the far off future, three centuries after an environmental catastrophe throws the world into chaos. Emma Watson will be 19-year old princess Kelsea Glynn, who must reclaim her deceased mother’s throne and restore her kingdom.
Erika Johansen wrote the fantasy novel trilogy, although no screenwriter or director is currently set for the adaptation.
