A few months ago, Barry Sonnenfeld signed up to direct Lore, which would have marked his first movie in 15 years that wasn’t a Men In Black flick. However now he’s out and THR reports that he’s been replaced by up and comer David Green on the Dwayne Johnson film.
Cory Goodman and Jeremy Lott are writing the screenplay, adapted from the graphic novel by Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise. The story is set in a world where a secret society of Shepherds guard against creatures from folklore that actually exist. When the chain of command is broken, a young hero must do whatever it takes.
Green directed the FEARnet series Zombie Roadkill in 2010 and his first feature, Echo, is due out next year. So this is a big step up for him, so hopefully he’ll do well with the current vogue for fairytales. There’s no news on exactly when Lore might shoot.
