Over the last couple of years 20-year-old Hunger Games star Josh Hutcherson has earned many plaudits for his support for LGBT causes, including co-founding Straight But Not Narrow, which aims to build gay-straight alliances in schools. Now he’s been talking to Out about his own sexuality, and shows a very enlightened view.
“I would probably list myself as mostly straight,” Hutcherson says. “Maybe I could say right now I’m 100% straight. But who knows? In a f**king year, I could meet a guy and be like, Whoa, I’m attracted to this person.”
“I’ve met guys all the time that I’m like, Damn, that’s a good-looking guy, you know? I’ve never been, like, Oh, I want to kiss that guy. I really love women. But I think defining yourself as 100% anything is kind of near-sighted and close-minded.”
It also seems he’d be into a Hunger Game threesome between his character and those of Jennifer Lawrence and Sam Claflin. “I know Peeta would be into it, for sure. He’s very sensitive, in touch with his emotions,” he says. “I think it really might solve a lot of their problems. You know what? I’m going to pitch that idea. Let’s make it a—what’s it called when three people are in a relationship together? A triad? That’ll go over well with Middle America.”
Hutcherson had two gay uncles who died of AIDS and his mother has also advocated for LGBT causes, so the young man was certainly primed to help make a stand. We’re glad he’d decided to be so open and proactive! He’ll next be seen in The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, which is out November 22nd.
Take a look below for some great pics from his Out shoot. He’s certainly looking good!
