For a while now, the people behind The Expendables have been working on a all-female spin-off called ExpendaBelles. Now that movie has a director, as Robert Luketic has signed on to helm the film for Millennium Films.
Deadline has also released the first plot synopsis for the movie: ‘When America’s Navy SEALs are wiped out trying to penetrate the island lair of a deadly despot who has captured one of the world’s top nuclear scientists, it becomes clear that there is no such thing as the right man for the job and that this is a mission so impossible that only women can handle it. The only way in: some of the world’s deadliest female operatives must pose as high-class call-girls shipped in by private plane to satisfy a dictator-and instead save the scientist and the day.’
Last October is was rumoured Meryl Streep, Cameron Diaz and Milla Jovovich were in early to star. However no cast members have been set, although proper casting will begind shortly.
Kirsten Smith and Karen McCullah Lutz (Legally Blonde) wrote the screenplay, with Sylvester Stallone and Kevin King Templeton producing. Shooting is scheduled to begin this summer.
