Betty White has long known be known as a gay ally. She’s been happy with everything LGBT for a long time, even admitting she’d been happy to act as Liberace’s beard on several occasions when she was younger.
Now she’s reaffirmed her support in an interview with Larry King, where the 92-year-old (yes, one of the funniest women on the planet really is now 92) was asked about how the gay community impacted on her career.
She said, “I don’t care whom you sleep with. It’s ‘what kind of human being are you?’ I don’t understand [why people are antigay], it’s such a personal private business and it’s none of mine.”
It echoes the sentiments she expressed in a 2010 interview with Parade, where she said, “I don’t know how people can get so anti-something. Mind your own business, take care of your affairs, and don’t worry about other people so much.”
Anyone else thinking Betty White is so awesome we ought to set up a religion based around here (and perhaps the other Golden Girls too)?
