Produced through the Jameson First Shot film contest, Beauty Mark is a great little film from Cameron Thrower, which unlike most LGBT-themed shorts, has a well-known name starring – Maggie Gyllenhaal.
It the 1980s, and Maggie plays door-to-door makeup saleswoman Valerie Williams, who meets Mark, the son of one of her clients. It soon transpires that Mark is trans and in the closet, and could do with some makeup tips, with the initially uncertain Valerie well placed to help her.
It’s a very charming film with a great message, which perfectly fits the First Shot theme of ‘fearing less and inviting life in’. Following a small cinema release at the end of July, it’s now been released online for everyone to view, so take a look below.
