American TV has found a new love of live stagings of musical, with the likes of The Sound Of Music, Peter Pan, The Wiz and most particularly Grease all having successful outings. This December Hairspray is getting the same treatment, and to help drum up interest, a teaser for the production has arrived – which certainly makes it look like this won’t stray far from the movie version, even if it has the stage version’s Harvey Fierstein in one of the key roles.
The great cast cast includes Fierstein as Edna Turnblad, Jennifer Hudson as Motormouth Mabel, Martin Short as Wilbur Turnblad, Derek Hough as Corny Collins, Ariana Grande as Penny Pingleton, Andrea Martin as Prudy Pingleton and Kristin Chenoweth as Velma Von Tussle. Rosie O’Donnell and Sean Hayes will also make special appearances.

We’re presuming that Disney spent all of its money for Maleficent clothing on the Angelina Jolie.While Kristin Chenoweth’s version above looks pretty cool = and gives us our look at her as the character in the upcoming Disney Channel movie The Descendants – she does slightly look like she got the eBay knock-off costume.

The avian fun of Rio grossed nearly $500 million around the world and so it’s little surprise Fox is keen to make a sequel. Now the studio has announced the cast for Rio 2, which is already in production at Blue Sky Studios. It’ll be released around the world in March and April 2014.
