Zoe Kazan & Michael Stahl-David On For Whedon’s In Your Eyes

February 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Joss Whedon is testing out both ends of the movie spectrum at the moment, going mega-budget with the ambitious The Avengers and also setting up Bellwether Pictures, a micro-studio making tiny, no-budget movies. The company’s first film is a Whedon directed adaptation of Much Ado About Nothing that’s already in the can.

Now Joss is putting together Bellwether’s next flick, In Your Eyes, with Brin Hill directing from Whedon’s script. Deadline reports that Zoe Kazan (Bored to Death, Meek’s Cutoff) and Michael Stahl-David (Cloverfield) have been cast in the lead roles in the movie, which is billed as ‘a metaphysical love story about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined.’

Stahl-David will be Dylan, a boyish-looking man who served time in jail for robbery when he refused to rat on his accomplices. Kazan meanwhile will play Rebecca, an attractive but skinny and slightly awkward woman, who is married to an older doctor. Though they’ve never met and he lives in New Mexico and she’s in Connecticut, they can hear and see one another across that distance.

The movie starts shooting soon in LA and Boston.

Abigail Spencer Joins Joss Whedon Produced In Your Eyes

January 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It appears Mad Men star Abigail Spencer has lined herself up a role to star in the supernatural romance In Your Eyes, which has been written by Joss Whedon, who is also producing, according to Vulture.

Speaking to Spencer at the Art of Elysium gala in Los Angeles at the weekend, Vulture got the actress to confirm that she was set to star in the film, which she describes as, “It’s the most romantic film in the history of time. It’s a supernatural romance.”

Brin Hill is directing the low-budget movie, which centres on two people who are preternaturally or supernaturally connected, despite being polar opposites. The movie is being made by Whedon’s Bellwether production company, which he set up to make micro-budget features outside the studio machine. Joss’ first film for the company is a new version of Much Ado About Nothing, which he directed towards the end of last year.

Joss Whedon Producing In Your Eyes

November 1, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Joss Whedon is one ridiculously busy man. Not content with taking on The Avengers, it was revealed last week that he’s also managed to find the time to shoot a new, low-budget take on Shakespeare’s Much Ado About Nothing which he planning to take on the festival circuit next year.

If that weren’t enough, Deadline reports that he’s also written and is planning to produce In Your Eyes, which Brin Hill will direct – or at least he wrote it a while ago but is only now moving forward. The movie will be the second film (after Much Ado) from Whedon’s new micro-studio Bellwether which will embracce ‘a DIY ethos and newer technologies’ to make small indie movies.

Not a vast amount is known about the plot, other than that it’s ‘a metaphysical love story about two seemingly polar opposites who are deeply connected in ways neither could have ever imagined’. Whedon says, “When I wrote In Your Eyes, I didn’t have the wherewithal (or the moxie) to make it without an established production house. I believe, as I did then, that it’s a pretty timeless romance, and now, with the creation of Bellwether Pictures (and Brin Hill’s elegant, passionate take on the piece), I have the opportunity to prove it. (I also have a 37% increase in moxie.) I love this team and I can’t wait to see them bring In Your Eyes to life.”
