The Last Stand Red Band Trailer – Arnie is keeping things R rated

January 8, 2013 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

last-stand-poster2If you were worried that reaching his 60s and spending time as Governor of California would make Arnold Schwarzenegger stop, this new red band trailer for The Last Stand is here to show us he has no plans to wuss out on the swearing and blood flying.

In the film, after leaving his LAPD narcotics post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with remorse and regret, Sheriff Ray Owens (Schwarzenegger) moved out of Los Angeles and settled into a life fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction. But that peaceful existence is shattered when Gabriel Cortez (Eduardo Noriega), the most notorious, wanted drug kingpin in the western hemisphere, makes a deadly yet spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy. With the help of a fierce band of lawless mercenaries led by the icy Burrell (Peter Stormare), Cortez begins racing towards the US-Mexico border at 250 mph in a specially-outfitted Corvette ZR1 with a hostage in tow. It’s nice in the trailer that Arnie acknowledges he’s getting older, while still piling on the action.

The film hits UK cinemas on January 25th. Watch the trailer below.

The Last Stand Trailer – Arnie is back in action!

August 17, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Arnie is planning to come back with a vengeance, with all sorts of projects in the works. The Expendables 2 has just hit cinemas, but his real return as a leading man will come with The Last Stand when it’s released January 2013. Whitaker & Knoxville Join Arnie’s Last Stand

October 22, 2011 By Movie Muser Leave a Comment

Following a short delay when his marriage exploded amidst revelations of a love child, Arnold Schwarzenegger is now officially back in the movie fold. He recently shot a beefed up role in The Expendables 2 and now Lionsgate has announced the start of production on his full-on comeback movie, The Last Stand.

Lionsgate’s press releases also say that along with the previously announced likes of Zach Gilford (Friday Night Lights), Jaimie Alexander (Thor), Eduardo Noriega (Open Your Eyes) and Peter Stormare (Fargo, The Big Lebowski), the movie will also feature Forest Whitaker (The Last King of Scotland), Luis Guzmán (Carlito’s Way, Boogie Nights), Rodrigo Santoro (Che, I Love You Phillip Morris), Johnny Knoxville (The Jackass films),  and Harry Dean Stanton (Alien, The Green Mile). It’s a pretty impressive cast.

Here’s the synopsis: ‘Korean helmer Jee-woon Kim (A Tale of Two Sisters, The Good, The Bad, The Weird)directs, with Schwarzenegger as Sheriff Owens, a man who has resigned himself to a life of fighting what little crime takes place in sleepy border town Sommerton Junction, after leaving his LAPD post following a bungled operation that left him wracked with failure and defeat after his partner was crippled. Following a spectacular escape from an FBI prisoner convoy, a notorious, wanted drug kingpin is hurtling toward the border at 200 mph in a specially outfitted car with a hostage and a fierce army of gang members.

‘He is headed, it turns out, straight for Summerton Junction, where the whole of the U.S. law enforcement will have their last opportunity to make a stand and intercept him before he slips across the border forever. At first reluctant to become involved, and then counted out because of the perceived ineptitude of his small town force, Owens ultimately accepts responsibility for one of the most daring face offs in cinema history.’

The movie’s due out January 2013, so we’ll have to wait a while to see Arnie in action!
