Mindscape (DVD Review)

August 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Starring: Mark Strong, Taissa Farmiga, Brian Cox
Director: Jorge Dorado
Running Time: 99 mins
Certificate: 15
Release Date: August 25th 2014 (UK)

With a largely British cast, a Spanish director and a mix of American and European money, it’s fair to say that Mindscape (released as Anna in the US) is a pretty international production. It follows John (Mark Strong), a memory detective who is able to use technology to go into other people’s minds and see their memories. However following the death of his wife and then suffering illness, he’s no longer at the top of his game.

To help him out he’s given what should be a relatively easy assignment – to go into the mind of 16-year-old Anna (Taissa Farmiga) to find the psychological root of her refusal to eat. Her father seems certain his daughter is dangerous and needs to be locked up, but very quickly from what he sees in her mind, John begins to suspect there might be something else going on. Mark Strong, Brian Cox & Tassia Farmiga Up For Mindscape

October 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Mark Strong, Brian Cox, and Taissa Farmiga have joined the cast of Mindscape, the feature directorial debut of Spanish filmmaker Jorge Dorado, according to Deadline. Shooting has just gotten underway on the sci-fi flick.

The movie is about a man who has the unique ability to enter a person’s mind. He examines a young girl to determine if she is a highly intellectual sociopath, or just a misguided teenager. No character details were given for any of the new cast members, although it would make sense for Farmiga to be the teenager and Strong to be the man who can enter people’s minds.

Guy Holmes and Martha Holmes wrote the screenplay, with Jaume Collet-Serra, Juan Sola and Peter Safran producing. Jorge Dorado is best known for directing a segment of the 2007 anthology Limonchello, and his 2005 short La Guerra.
