Director Matt Riddlehoover had great success with Scenes From A Gay Marriage, which remains a best-seller on DVD in the States. Now he’s readying his follow-up comedy, West Hollywood Motel, and we’ve got three new images from the movie for you to enjoy.

It’s described as “intersecting tales about people who have checked into the same motel room”. The film covers a range of people – gay and straight – playing off of the fact that the majority of the West Hollywood’s population is made up of gay or bisexual men, and that it is also one of the only places in the US where it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of gender identity. The ensemble cast includes Andrew Callahan, Amy Kelly, Phil Leirness, Jared Allman, and Luis A. Gudino (all pictured).

The film is slated for release later this year. Until then, enjoy the new pics.

December 12, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

A few weeks ago we reported that the exceedingly busy Matt Riddlehoover, wasn’t content with having Scenes From A Gay Marriage just release on US DVD and two more movies in various stages of readiness (Return To Babylon has already filmed, while another as-yet-untitled movie is in development), he’d found time to slot another one in.

Now that movie upcoming comedy is currently shooting in and around Los Angeles, and Matt has sent us the pic above from the set to prove it. The untitled film will follow the intertwining stories of various visitors and residents of West Hollywood and the romances, adventures and predicaments they get into.

Matt Riddlehoover & Scenes From a Gay Marriage’s Jared Allman Re-team For New Film

November 16, 2012 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

Director/actor Matt Riddlehoover is a busy man. His film Scenes From A Gay Marriage hits DVD and VOD in the US on November 27th, he’s getting Return To Babylon ready for audiences, and he has an as-yet-untitled movie in the works, which has María Conchita Alonso, Charlie David, Justin Mikita, Jonathan D. Lovitz, Enrique Sapene, and Josey Greenwell set to star.

That would be enough for most people, but not for Riddlehoover, who has announced that he’s reteaming with actor Jared Allman – who starred in Scenes From A Gay Marriage and is also set for the untitled movie that’s mentioned above – for another LGBT-themed feature-length comedy, which is due to start shooting next month in LA.

The film will follow the intertwining stories of various visitors and residents of West Hollywood and the romances, adventures and predicaments they get into. The script plays off of the fact that the majority of the city’s population is made up of gay or bisexual men, and that it is also one of the only places in the US where it is illegal to discriminate on the basis of gender identity. In one story, Amy Kelly (All About Walken: The Impersonators of Christopher Walken) will star as a vacationing housewife who wakes up to find she has a penis. In another story, Allman will be featured as a transvestite looking for love (but if the picture above is anything to go by – Allman is on the left – he’ll need to do some chest shaving before cameras roll).

No title for the film has been revealed yet.

Justin Mikita & Christine O’Leary Added To Matt Riddlehoover’s New Film

October 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Over the last few weeks we’ve been covering the growing cast of Scenes From A Gay Marriage’s Matt Riddlehoover’s upcoming LGBT-themed movie, which already includes the likes of Maria Conchita Alonso, Charlie David, Jared Allman, Josey Greenwell, Jonathan D. Lovitz, and Enrique Sapene. Now two more have been added, in the form of Gay rights activist Justin Mikita and award-winning comedienne Christine O’Leary.

Mikita co-produced last year’s Los Angeles premiere of 8: The Play, which chronicled the landmark trial of California’s Prop. 8, using actual court transcripts and first-hand interviews. O’Leary, who recently performed stand-up with Joy Behar, has been nominated “One of the 50 Funniest Lesbians in America” and serves on the Board of Directors for True Colors, Inc., a GLBTQA Youth Serving Agency.

Riddlehoover’s currently untitled film is about a newly together gay couple who find their blissful life disrupted by friends and relatives. Thematically, the script aims to grind gears about civil rights, hereditary illnesses, and life itself – all while making you laugh. Production is slated to begin shooting in Spring 2013 in Los Angeles.

As we reported a couple of weeks ago, the movie is currently seeking funding on Indiegogo, so head over there if you’d like to help.

Plot Revealed For Matt Riddlehoover’s New Gay Themed Film As Funding Campaign Is Launched

September 25, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Over the last couple of months we’ve posted a few stories about Matt Riddlehoover’s planned new gay-themed film, mainly concerning the casting for the movie. The likes Chris Crocker, Josey Greenwell, Charlie David, Jared Allman, Enrique Sapene, and Scenes From A Gay Marriage helmer Riddlehoover himself, are all set to appear in the movie. However what we haven’t known is the plot of the film.

Now a fundraising campaign has been launched over at IndieGoGo, and with it we’ve got some info on the story. Here it is, ‘Two men – a Venezuelan med student (Enrique Sapene) and an American actor-turned-massage therapist (Matt Riddlehoover) – meet and fall in love. They begin living together in a quaint West Hollywood apartment, along with their fitness guru roommate (Cesar D’ La Torre). On the eve of their one-year anniversary, the Venezuelan’s aunt (Maria Conchita Alonso) unexpectedly shows up. She’s a wreck, in the middle of a very difficult time, and expects to stay until she’s back on her feet.

‘To complicate matters further, the Venezuelan’s mother (Alonso, in a dual role) flies in for an extended stay. She’s old fashioned, God fearing, and outwardly disapproves of her son’s sexuality. Understandably, the couple’s flame begins to dwindle. Hoping to rekindle their relationship, they head Southeast to a property where the American spent his childhood. However, they are unaware that his unemployed brother (Charlie David) currently occupies the house with a group of misfit friends.

‘There’s one who’s reeling from a recent gay bashing (Chris Crocker), and another who’s hysterical from an unwanted pregnancy (Thashana McQuiston). Meanwhile, the brother – who is also gay – finds himself caught between romantic entanglements (Jonathan D. Lovitz and Josey Greenwell). During a storm-induced power outage, the couple must decide what’s most important… their relationship, families, or individual sanity!’

If that sounds like something you’d like to see, then the IndieGoGo campaign is currently looking for $25,000 to help with a range of production needs. You can find out more over at the IndiGogo site, and/or by watching the video below. A variety of great perks are available for contributing to the film’s IndieGoGo campaign, from a digital download of the film to a signed copy of the DVD, a producer credit to an on-set visit.

Shooting on the currently untitled movie will begin Spring 2013. Half of the film will be shot in and around Los Angeles, California. The other half will be shot in the mountains of Hiawassee, Georgia, and a waterfront location in Charleston, South Carolina.

Scenes From A Gay Marriage director Matt Riddlehoover is busy putting together his new movie, and he’s now added two names from the world of the internet to the cast list, Chris Crocker & Josey Greenwell.

Director Matt Riddlehoover Eyes The Cast For His New Comedy

August 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

We here at BGPS have been slightly excited about Matt Riddlehoover’s upcoming movie, Scenes From A Gay Marriage, and not only because because of the ridiculous hotness of the movie’s cast (and if you don’t believe us, check out these pics and/or the trailer).

Scenes From A Gay Marriage Trailer & Poster

July 18, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

There’s been an awful lot of you drooling over the pics we posted a few weeks ago of the incredibly hot guys from the upcoming film Scenes From A Gay Marriage, and now the trailer and poster for the movie are here, so we can get a better feel for the comedy.

The plot doesn’t so much concern marriage equality as the title (a play on Ingmar Bergman’s 1973 film) might suggest. Instead, the upcoming comedy touches on themes such as sex, love, and adultery. Writer/director Matt Riddlehoover stars as a newly single man who seeks entertainment through the sexual high jinks of his upstairs neighbors (Carson Nicely and Malachi Taylor). But when he suspects one of them is cheating, wackiness – as they say – ensues. The film, which is set in Nashville and Los Angeles, also stars Jared Allman (Sundance Channel’s Girls Who Like Boys Who Like Boys).

You can find out more at the film’s Facebook page.
