Pixar Announces Finding Dory – Ellen Degeneres Is Getting Lost

For a while we’ve known that Pixar has been developing a sequel to Finding Nemo, but it’s not going to be called Finding Nemo, it’s now officially been announced that it will be called Finding Dory. Ellen DeGeneres, the voice of Dory, revealed the news on her chat show.

“I have waited for this day for a long, long, long, long, long, long time,” said DeGeneres. “I’m not mad it took this long. I know the people at Pixar were busy creating ‘Toy Story 16.’ But the time they took was worth it. The script is fantastic. And it has everything I loved about the first one: It’s got a lot of heart, it’s really funny, and the best part is—it’s got a lot more Dory.”

Director and Pixar veteran Andrew Stanton will take audiences back to the underwater world created in the original film. “There is no Dory without Ellen,” said Stanton. “She won the hearts of moviegoers all over the world—not to mention our team here at Pixar. One thing we couldn’t stop thinking about was why she was all alone in the ocean on the day she met Marlin. In ‘Finding Dory,’ she will be reunited with her loved ones, learning a few things about the meaning of family along the way.”

You can understand why Pixar wants to concentrate on Dory, as Finding Nemo has more than 16 million Likes on Facebook, and Dory – with more than 24 million – is the most Liked individual character from a Disney or Disney•Pixar film.

Finding Dory comes to US cinemas on Nov. 25th, 2015, with a UK date still to be set.

Ellen DeGeneres Back For Finding Nemo 2

August 22, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Pixar has certainly changed its tune since the time it was reluctant to make sequels to any of its big hits (other than Toy Story 2). They have several follow-ups in the works, including next year’s Monsters University and the recently revealed Finding Nemo 2.

The movie was announced last month, with Andrew Stanton back on board to direct, and now THR reports that Ellen DeGeneres is in talks to return as Dory. That can only be a good thing, as what would a Finding Nemo sequel be without the forgetful fish? No story details have been leaked so it’s impossible to tell how central to the story Dory might be, although it wouldn’t be shocking if she took centre stage this time around, especially as Pixar want DeGeneres signed up so early in the process.

Victoria Strouse is currently writing the script and a late 2016 release date is expected.
