It’s a bit of a gay-themed web series party in Episode 5 of Season 3 of Tough Love, as regulars Steven Bell and Blaire Wendel are joined by the likes of Hunting Season and Adulting’s Ben Baur, Broad City’s Dino Petrera and My Gay Roommate’s Noam Ash.

The newcomers are, wait for it, GAYS! That might not sound surprising for a show like this, but Steven isn’t all that great at, well, being social, so isn’t impressed when his friend brings along a bunch of other gays. However, the problem may not be them, it may just be that Steven isn’t all that great at judging the tone of the situation, especially when he decides to drink too much and tell a tale about butts and spray can caps.

Blaire meanwhile ends up at a book club while chasing girls, but ends up finding someone a little unexpected who seems to be on her wavelength.

Creator/star Steven Bell comments, “This week’s episode finds Steven in his most insecure state when the coolest gays in Astoria crash his picnic in the park. I wanted to make an episode about how uncool Blaire and I feel around some people in the city. I”m a mess in this. Have you ever had to take your computer in for repair? Were you worried that the technician would find your enormous stash of porn that you like to pretend doesn’t exist? That’s the situation Steven faces in the latest episode of Tough Love.

Creator Steven Bell talks comments about what inspired the episode, “It’s possible I’m the only one who’s experienced this, but do you know that feeling when you’re laptop’s on the fritz and you know it’s going to die soon, but you still haven’t deleted all that raunchy porn off your hard drive? This episode is about what happens when your computer dies while you’re watching porn. Someone has to fix it and that person is going to see how kinky you are. I had a conversation with an Apple Store employee who said he’s seen more nudes of random people at work then he’s ever seen in his personal dating life. It’s a very humiliating, awkward situation for the repair person and the customer bringing in the computer. So of course, I wanted to make an episode about it.”

The other half of the episode follows Blaire around as she adventures into the world of exercise. She forces herself into the lunch plans of some NYC fitness ladies and things get really awkward.

Bell continues, “This episode is called Shame. It’s one of my favorites of the season. We get to see both Steven and Blaire in very humiliating circumstances and I would say this is our most character defining episode yet.”

In the two-part first episode of Tough Love Season 3, Steven’s date with a super-hot, muscled model didn’t go too well as it brought up all his insecurities. However, there’s a possibility things are looking up for him in Episode 2. However Blaire is being as anxious as ever.

Ep 2 finds Blaire in a panic over the Ebola virus. In her words, “How do we know Ebola is over? It’s only over until the next person gets it!” Meanwhile, Steven goes on his first OkCupid date with the adorable Tyler, played by actor Logan Sutherland, and things get cute. But will they get to kiss?

Creator/star Steven Bell comments, “This episode was a blast to make. We get to dive deep into Blaire’s mind and see how her anxiety works. We shot a full Ebola Zombie sequence on a NYC subway and it’s every public transit passenger’s worst nightmare. We also get to see Steven go on his first successful date with a cute boy named Tyler. Tyler is handsome, smart, but also awkward in his own way. The chemistry between the two characters is really cute. Maybe too cute.”

A couple of days ago we posted the trailer for Season 3 of Tough Love. Now the first episode has arrived, which takes us back into the dysfunctional world of the gay Steven and the sexually fluid Blaire. Once more they’re negotiating the vagaries of life in their own inimitable way.

Blaire wants her ex-girlfriend back, and does a bit of stalking with her cousin will in an attempt to get her back. Steven meanwhile finds his insecurities coming out when he goes on a blind date with an extremely hot model – while the date likes him, Steven isn’t sure why.

The third season is here thanks to a successful crowdfunding campaign, which ensures there’ll be seven more episodes coming over the next few weeks. Beware though, Tough Love can be oddly addictive.
