Not Looking: Season 2, Episodes 2&3 – Things get funny for the gay friends

September 9, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

not-looking-s2-ep2While HBO’s Looking has been cancelled (although a two-hour wrap-up movie is still to come), its antidote, the web series Not Looking, is still going, and now Episodes 2 & 3 of Season 2 of the show have been released, and you can watch them below.

Drew Droege, Justin Martindale, Jason Looney and Jeremy Shane star in the show, which takes a look at four friends dealing with all-manner of gay-related life issues. For example, Droege’s characters is having a bit of a crisis about “thirties-ish”, adding, “I just want to do something with my life – something with my adult life. I thought it would just happen for me because I’m special … I can’t rely on these looks forever.’

Then it heads on to Episode three, about which co-creator Jason Looney told The HuffPo, “Things start ramping up in this episode. Danton (Drew Droege) starts training for his new job as a waiter in a Mexican Restaurant. SNL Alum Melanie Hutsell trains him (in drag brows). Colby and Parker have a run-in at the club. Parker becomes a drug slut. Shane makes spooky new friends and does some witchy spells. Things begin to ramp up in Episode 3 and then we give full clown in Episodes 4 and 5.”

Not Looking – Season 2, Episode 1 – The antidote to the gay-themed HBO show is back

August 24, 2015 By Tim Isaac 1 Comment

not-looking-s2-ep1It’s taken a while. Back in March, while Season 2 of HBO’s gay-themed Looking was on the air, a trailer for its comedy alter-ego web series, Not Looking – Season 2, debuted. However it’s only now that the first episode has arrived, via Funny Or Die. You can watch it below.

Once more, Drew Droege and co. are taking a comedic look at more ‘realistic’ issues facing gay men – who are not all pretty, young and able to land a new man in moments (although even in this series, some of them are pretty cute).

Alongside gay-entertainment stalwart Droege, the show stars Jason Looney, Justin Martindale, and Jeremy Shane, as well as some new faces, including in this episode Mean Girls’ Daniel Franseze. And with four more episodes coming soon, we’ve also been promised the likes of the return of Lance Bass.

Check out, Not Looking – Season 2, Episode 1 below. And if you need to, you can catch up with the first season here. [Read more…]

March 24, 2015 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

not-looking-s2-slideA few weeks ago we posted about the gay-themed web series Not Looking seeking funding via Indiegogo for its second season. Well it reached its target and now that the Season 2 of Looking has ended on TV, it’s gearing up for its Funny Or Die release, and to help prepare us a trailer has been released.

Jefferey Self is set to join the cast and there are a several well-known faces due to pop up too!

It’s been promised that the second season ‘is a much more ambitious undertaking and we will need all the help we can get! The story is way bigger and the jokes are way funnier!’

Take a look at the trailer below. As the makers say – It’s not Looking, it’s not Girls, it’s Not Looking.

Not Looking Episode 5 – The first season of gay-themed web series comes to an end

April 8, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Not Looking started out as a one-off parody on HBO’s Looking, but thankfully they quickly realised it would be worth turning into a series. The results has been that over the last few weeks we’ve had great fun Drew Droege, Justin Martindale and Jason Looney as they deal with the vagaries of gay life.

Now it’s time for the final episode of the first season.

As with episode four, there’s time for another cameo from Lance Bass, along with a few laughs. A few plot strands get tied up, but enough is left open if they decide to make Season 2 – and let’s hope they do.

Not Looking Episode 4 – Lance Bass drops by the boys in the gay-themed web series

April 1, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

It’s another week and another episode of Not Looking, the parody of Looking that’s turned out to be just as much a comment on real gay life as the show that inspired it.

And this time it’s special guest star time as Lance Bass stops by for a cameo, alongside the likes of regulars Drew Droege, Justin Martindale and Jason Looney.

Once more it’s a lot of fun, and many will recognise the odd irrational jealousy when a straight female friend ‘cheats’ on you, while one of the boys starts to think that perhaps he shouldn’t have friend zoned his roomie.

Take a look above. The only bad thing about it is that we’ve only got one more episode to come. Take a look at the earlier episodes by clicking here. [Read more…]

Not Looking Episode 3 – Drew Droege looks for love in all the wrong places in the gay web series

March 24, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The Looking parody, Not Looking, continues with the third of its five episodes. This time the focus shifts to Drew Droege’s Danton, who thinks he dealing with getting a little bit older as a gay man in an age obsessed world – even if he’s not going to reveal his actual age.

However dating doesn’t get easier when you get older, as Danton discovers when he finds guys who are more of a mess than he is.

Not Looking is certainly turning out to be fun, and to be honest, it’s probably as attuned to modern gay life as the HBO show that inspired it, exploring it in a much briefer time but with almost as much insight (but then, Looking’s insight was a bit dodgy at times anyway. Take a look at the latest episode above.

You can take a look at the earlier episodes by clicking here. [Read more…]

Not Looking Episode 2 – The boys are dealing with break-ups & Grindr in the gay parody

March 17, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The parody series Not Looking got a lot of fans through its one-off pilot and then the release of its first episode proper last week, and now it’s back with the second of five looks at gay life in its parody of Looking.

This time around the boys are dealing with the aftermath of a break-up and trying to get their newly single and very upset back on the horse by getting him to partake in the joys of Grindr. However it doesn’t go all that well.

Take a look at the new episode above, and if you missed the earlier eps, here’s the pilot and the first episode if you missed them. [Read more…]

Not Looking Episode 1 – The gay-themed parody web series gets its first proper ep.

March 10, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Just after Looking debuted on HBO, Funny Or Die released a fun little parody called Not Looking, featuring Drew Droege and friends making gentle fun of the gay-themed show and offering a few salient points at the same time.

Shortly afterwards it was announced they were looking for funding to turn Not Looking into a full web series. Now the first episode is here, offering plenty more to make us smile.

It’s the first of five eps about a group of five gay friends living in Los Angeles, dealing with the vargaries of life – and this time Parker (Jason Looney) drowns his sorrows in pizza while Colby (Justin Martindale) makes an unexpected discovery about his new boyfriend.

Take a look above. [Read more…]

Not Looking Parody Of Looking Seeks Funding For A Full Web Series

February 18, 2014 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

not-lookingA couple of weeks ago the great Funny Or Die video, Not Looking, went viral, including on this site, thanks to it’s sharp and funny parody of HBO’s gay series, Looking. It seems those involved have realised they were onto something, as they’ve launched an IndieGoGo crowdfunding campaign in the hope they can raise enough money for six episodes of a Not Looking web series.

The cast includes Drew Droege, Jason Looney, Justin Martindale, and Jeremy Shane. With their original 90-second parody, they successfully skewered some of things Looking has been criticised for and also managed to present a different picture of gay life that will be very recognisable to many people.

Drew Droege was also behind the incredibly successful Chloe web series, so he certainly knows what he’s doing.

If you want to help out with the funding, watch the Funny Or Die short and the crowsfunding teaser for Season 1 below, then head over the IndieGoGo.
