Based on the award–winning documentary, FREEHELD is the true story of Laurel (Julianne Moore) and her partner Stacie (Ellen Page) and their incredible fight for love and justice. An esteemed New Jersey police detective Laurel is diagnosed with terminal cancer and has once wish – to leave her hard earned pension to her domestic partner, Stacie, so she can remain in their home. However the county officials, ‘Freeholders’, seek to prevent this on the grounds of their same-sex partnership thus igniting a passionate fight that inspired a global movement.
