For many years Salman Rushdie’s Midnight’s Children was deemed unfilmable, but now Deepa Mehta has taken on the task – working from Rushdie’s own script – and has been getting good notices for the end result. It’s been a good year for gay-themed movies, and many of the best have been brought to us by Peccadillo Pictures. We’ve now teamed up with them for a competition featuring some of their best releases from throughout 2012. We’ve got DVD copies of North Sea Texas, Boys On Film: Cruel Britannia and Romeos, along with a poster for the recently released Yossi and some Hit So Hard badges.

It’s a great little package for some really good films. North Sea Texas follows a gay teen coming to terms with his sexuality on the Belgian coast, Romeos deals with a relationship between two men when one of them is a female-to-male transsexual and Boys On Film: Cruel Britannia is a collection of some of the best gay-themed short films from around the UK. Yossi meanwhile catches up with one of the title characters from gay flick fave Yossi & Jagger, who’s now a lonely doctor, but may get a new lease of life when a young army guy takes an interest in him. Finally Hit So Hard is a documentary about Patty Schemel, the acclaimed drummer for Courtney Love’s seminal rock band Hole.

Adam Hills debut stand-up DVD, Inflatable, is out to buy now, and a great gift for Christmas, with the Austrialian funnyman taking to the stage to bring us some great laughs. And we’ve got a copy to give away in this competition!

In 2002, director Eytan Fox gained a lot of fans for his gay-themed Israeli drama Yossi & Jagger. 10 years on he’s letting us catch up with one of the main character with the new film, Yossi, which is out on DVD December 10th, and can be purchased from Amazon here. Returning to the role that won him TFF’s Best Actor award, Ohad Knoller gives another extraordinary performance as Yossi, a gay man living a solitary existence in Tel Aviv. To celebrate the release of The Oranges, in cinemas December 7 (cert 15) we have teamed up with Paramount Pictures UK to offer you the chance to win one of five posters of the film.

David and Paige Walling (Hugh Laurie, Catherine Keener) and Terry and Cathy Ostroff (Oliver Platt, Allison Janney) are best friends and neighbors living on Orange Drive in suburban New Jersey.  Their comfortable existence goes awry when prodigal daughter Nina Ostroff (Leighton Meester), newly broken up with her fiancé Ethan (Sam Rosen), returns home for Thanksgiving after a five-year absence.  Rather than developing an interest in the successful son of her neighbors, Toby Walling (Adam Brody), which would please both families, it’s her parents’ best friend David who captures Nina’s attention.
