Win The Adopted On DVD – Melanie Laurent’s directorial debut

March 27, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Melanie Laurent made a huge splash in Inglourious Basterds and was more recently seen in the Oscar-winning Beginners. Now she’s turning director with The Adopted, which is out on DVD on April 2nd through Studiocanal, and we’ve got two copies to give away.

The Adopted is the story of a family of women whose lives are never easy but who, over time, manage to surmount their difficulties. Vivacious and alluring Lisa (Mélanie Laurent) and her adoptive sister Marine (Marie Denarnaud, Ma Femme est une actrice) have been inseparable since they were ten years old. With Lisa’s mother Millie (Clémentine Célarié, Betty Blue), they have forged a deep bond that protects them from life’s hard knocks. Together, the three women offer Lisa’s young son, Leo, the security and affection that allow him to blossom. When one of them falls in love, however, the quirky family’s balance is thrown off. Before they can make individual adjustments to prolong their collective happiness, fate throws tragedy at them and the family must realign with a new reality in order to turn loss into hope and love.

If you’d like to try and win one of the two copies of The Adopted that we’ve got to give away, answer the question below and fill in your details, then press submit! The competition closes on April 9th, so get answering and good luck!

Win Wilfred Seasons 1 & 2 On DVD!

March 19, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

The original version of Wilfred, the multi-award winning Australian comedy series about a foul-mouthed, beer-swilling, pot-smoking dog that thinks it’s human (and the inspiration behind the recent US remake starring Elijah Wood) is out now on DVD as two separate releases, Wilfred: Season One and Wilfred: Season Two, both courtesy of Fabulous Films. And we’ve got a copy of Wilfred Seasons 1&2 to give away to one lucky winner!

Much edgier, slightly more sinister in tone and infinitely funnier than its toned down US counterpart, Wilfred is the brainchild of writers and stars, Jason Gann and Adam Zwar, and series director Tony Rogers and is a must-see show for comedy fans and for anyone who enjoyed the Americanized remake, which also stars Gann in the title role, but wants something with a bit more bite.

If you’d like to try and win the copy of Wilfred: Seasons 1&2 that we’ve got to give away, answer the question below and fill in your details, then press submit! The competition closes on March 31st, so get answering and good luck!

HOW TO ENTER: Fill in the entry form below and click send. All fields need to be completed correctly for an entry to be valid. This includes your address, which will only be used if you win a prize. Win Touching Home Starring Ed Harris On DVD!

March 14, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Ed Harris is always a good bet for quality entertainment, and the star of The Abyss and The Truman Show’s latest, Touching Home, arrives on DVD on March 19th, courtesy of Lionsgate Home Entertainment, and we’ve got a copy to give away.

In bringing Touching to the screen, Logan and Noah Miller accomplished the impossible. When their homeless father died alone in a jail cell, they vowed that their autobiographical film would be made as a dedication to their love for him. With no money and no contacts, they persuaded four-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris to star in the film and managed to assemble a cast and crew with 11 Academy Awards and 28 nominations between them.

In this emotionally charged drama, the Millers co-star as Lane and Clint Winston, twin brothers from a working class background who pursue professional baseball careers while trying to save their homeless, alcoholic father Charlie (Harris).

If you’d like to try and win the copy of Touching Home that we’ve got to give away, answer the question below and fill in your details, then press submit! The competition closes on March 27th, so get answering and good luck!

HOW TO ENTER: Fill in the entry form below and click send. All fields need to be completed correctly for an entry to be valid. This includes your address, which will only be used if you win a prize. Win Wild Side On DVD!

March 13, 2012 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Wild Side, from the director of modern gay classic Presque Rien, is out to buy on DVD now from Peccadillo Pictures, but we’ve got three copies of the movie to give away in this great comp!

Gay men Mikhail and Jamel and transsexual Stephanie are three lost souls who share an unbreakable bond, one that is made stronger by the risque lives they lead in the seedy side streets and train stations of Paris where they use their bodies to turn tricks. Whilst battling with their own inner demons they also find solace in each other?s arms. When Stephanie receives a phone call to say her mother is unwell, the three lovers go to Stephanie’s village deep in rural France. Once there, she begins to unravel some of the childhood events that have made her the person she is today. From the director of Presque Rien, the subtle, highly stylized and thoroughly emotive Wild Side has drawn comparisons to Agnes Godard’s Beau Travail and Jacques Nolot’s Before I Forget.
