Pot Luck: Episode 2 – New Zealand’s first lesbian-themed web series is back!

June 15, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

pot-luck-slideLast December we posted the first episode of New Zealand’s first lesbian-themed web series, Pot Luck, which at the time was crowdfunding to get more episodes made. Now a second episode has arrived, so we can catch up with what’s going on with the antipodean girls.

The makers says that, ‘In the tradition of Transparent and Orange Is The New Black, we’re telling the New Zealand story of diversity in an entertaining package that will appeal to a wide audience! One of our local broadcasters, TVNZ on Demand (1million+ subscribers) will be screening it on their online platform, and we’re also negotiating with a number of international platforms (mainstream and LBGTQ) who are very interested, just based on watching the first episode.’

The very brief synopsis for Episode 2 simply says, ‘Debs, Beth and Mel have made a pact… but will everyone be able to keep up their side of the bargain?’ If you need to catch up with Episode 1, click here, or otherwise take a look a the second instalment below. [Read more…]

Go-Go Boy Interrupted S2 Ep11 – Danny’s back in the club but it isn’t going well

June 14, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

go-go-boy-interrupted-s1-ep11This season of Go-Go Interrupted has already given us quite a few episodes, but it isn’t over yet. Danny finally has his job back at as a go-go boy, but things aren’t quite what he expected when he’s told he has to dance while dressed as a caterpillar.

Plus, the man who’s obsessively in love with him is there, as are his new friends, the mean gays. He’s also hoping the guy he’s majorly crushing on is going to turn up, but he’s unlikely to impress him in a caterpillar costume.

The show’s creator/star, Jimmy Fowlie, also made the statement, ‘This episode is dedicated to our LGBT family and allies in Orlando. I cannot stop thinking about you guys. That could have been any of us. But I am drawing strength from people in the community who refuse to let this scare them into hiding out. If anything this is a time to be more proud than ever. Feels like he said it best:

‘”The shooter targeted a nightclub where people came together to be with friends, to dance and to sing, and to live. The place where they were attacked is more than a nightclub—it is a place of solidarity and empowerment where people have come together to raise awareness, to speak their minds, and to advocate for their civil rights.” – President Obama’

McTucky Fried High S2 Ep2 – The LGBTQ cartoon addresses bathrooms, discrimination and oppression

June 13, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mctucky-fried-high-s2-ep2Even an animated high school isn’t free from discrimination, with Season 2, Episode 2 taking on bathroom issues for transgender issues. Things get tense and it’s time for action when some of the McTucky students get upset about one of their genderqueer classmates using what they consider to be the wrong bathroom.

Alongside the release of the episode, the makers of McTucky made the statement, ‘In the wake of the mass shoot of the LGBTQIA+ Latinx club Pulse in Orlando, FL just days prior, it is important now more than ever to lift up queer and trans voices, people of color, show solidarity and priority for the lives and issues that are too often silenced, overlooked and worse, killed. McTucky stands in solidarity with the Orlando community and in the movement for decades of bring attention to the violence and discrimination that impacts our communities.’

Take a look at McTucky Fried High’s Season 2, Episode 2 below, and if you need to catch up on Episode 1, click here, and head here for Season 1. Enjoy! [Read more…]

Gay Short Film Showcase: For Your Gods – A very erotic new film arrives from VENFIELD8 (NSFW)

June 11, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

for-your-gos-venfield-8VENFIELD8, who is perhaps best known for their parody adverts where the theme behind many ads for luxury brands is laid bare (literally) by the inclusion of man bits, is back with a new short film, For Your Gods. You can take a look at it below.

The artist says that the film is ‘a meditation of the fetishization of designer labels and illustrates the erotic currency in the extreme. Seen as a metaphor, consumers are instructed to respond to luxury in very specific and predetermined ways.’ However, many will see it as a meditation on a hot, furry, naked guy, writhing about on a table. It’s certainly a new way to use a Louis Vuitton dog collar.

Beware though, while it’s well worth a look, it’s also very NSFW. If you know a short film we ought to be posting, tell us by getting in touch via our contact page. And check out more gay short films and web series here. [Read more…]

Go-Go Boy Interrupted S2 Ep10 – Danny wants to know how you can tell if you’ve found ‘the one’

June 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

go-go-go-interrupted-s2-ep10You never quite know much Go-Go Boy Interrupted you’re going to get. While some episodes are around 10 minutes, others are much shorter. For Season 2, Episode 10, we get a nugget-sized 2.5 minutes, but it’s still pretty fun.

This time around Jimmy Fowlie’s Danny wants to know if you’ve found ‘the one’. However, while he thinks he might have found it, he isn’t sure whether it’s just because he’s getting older and perhaps a little bit desperate. Luckily (or maybe not so luckily) his friends are on hand to help him out. And watch out for the welcome reappearance of Glee’s Heather Morris

Gay Short Film Showcase: zack & luc – Looking at a relationship from both sides in Super 8

June 7, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

zack-and-luc-slidezack & luc had plenty of success on the film festival circuit, and now it’s been released on the web, so we can all get a look at this gay-themed short film treat.

The 15-minute short is ‘A split-screen film telling two versions of the entire story of a relationship. Each memory becomes intertwined with all the others: the firsts, the lasts, the middles, each of the small nothing moments that add up to something in the end.’ It’s also got a great vintage look, due to being shot entirely on Super 8 film.

While the split-screen set-up could have felt gimmicky, it works surprisingly well, use the two side to compare and contrast, oftn showing us the same events as different times from different angle. Indeed, at times it’s oddly mesmerising as your eye flick from one side to the other.

Take a look at Zack and Luc below. If you know a short film we ought to be posting, tell us by getting in touch via our contact page. And check out more gay short films and web series here. [Read more…]

McTucky Fried High: Season 2, Episode 1 – The animated high school full of queer food returns!

June 6, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

mctucky-fried-high-slideThere aren’t many queer-themed animated series, but McTucky Fried High has great success with its first season. That’s perhaps surprising considering the premise is a little odd, as it’s about a school where all the students are bits of food, a lot of which are LGBT.

Now it’s back with the first episode of Season 2, which you can watch below. In this episode its time for a lesson in gender politics, with McTucky’s gay football player learning that just because he’s male, it doesn’t mean he’s inherently better than females who play the game.

Creator, Director and Executive Producer Robert-Carnilius uses his own life, creative passions and community involvement as inspiration in hopes of generating an entertaining, insightful and humorous cartoon. The McTucky Fried High cast and crew are also comprised predominantly of LGBTQ people and people of color, going beyond visibility by using personal empowerment to shape and create media that has a personal, political and artistic impact.

And if you need to catch up, you can watch the first season over as the show’s website. [Read more…]

Go-Go Boy Interrupted S2 Ep9 – Danny remembers how he told his high school girlfriend he was gay

June 1, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

go-go-boy-interrupted-s2-ep9Before many of us knew we were gay (or at least before we were ready to admit it), we dated someone of the opposite gender. While some of those relationships ended before we had to tell them who we truly were, in other cases there had to be a rather awkward conversation.

In the latest episode of Go-Go Boy Interrupted, Danny (Jimmy Fowlie) gets to reminisce about his high school days when his ex-girlfriend Ashley comes to visit, including his remembrances of when he told her he was gay. It’s also an opportunity for the likes of Willam Belli, Drew Droege and Brian Jordan Alvarez to make welcome reappearances in the popular web series.

Take a look at the new episode of Go-Go Boy Interrupted below. And if you need to catch up with earlier episodes of Go-Go Boy Interrupted, you can click here to find them. [Read more…]

Go-Go Boy Interrupted S2 Ep8 – Danny finds out what happens when you befriend mean gays (including Scott Evans)

May 25, 2016 By Tim Isaac Leave a Comment

Scott Evans in Go-Go-Boy InterruptedThere’s a new guest star in this episode of Go-Go Boy Interrupted, with the appearance of Scott Evans (who it is obligatory to say in Chris Evans’ gay brother, as well as being a former star of the soap One Life To Live). However, he’s not being a superhero like his bro here, as he is one of the ‘mean gays’, that Danny (Jimmy Fowlie) tries to befriend.

However, are they really the giant assholes that everyone thinks they are, or are Scott and his friends actually nicer than they appear? Danny might have a bit of a surprise in store.

It’s another fun one! Take a look at the new episode of Go-Go Boy Interrupted below. And if you need to catch up with early episodes of Go-Go Boy Interrupted, you can click here to find them. [Read more…]
