It’s been revealed that Lady Gaga is heading for the movies in Robert Rodriguez’s Machete Killer, with the director announcing the new by releasing the character poster above of the singer in the movie.

Not much is known about her role, other than she’ll be called La Chameleon, although Rodriguez tweeted, ‘I just finished working with @LadyGaga on @MacheteKills , she kicked SO MUCH ASS! Holy Smokes. Blown away!’

She joins the likes of Danny Trejo, Charlie Sheen, Mel Gibson, Amber Heard, Sofia Vergara and Zoe Saldana in the movie, which is due out next year.

I think it’s safe to say that if Charlie Sheen ever ran for President, he wouldn’t win, but he’s getting to rule the free world vicariously, as director Robert Rodriguez has revealed on his Twitter account that he’s cast Sheen as the US President in Machete Kills, and he ever tweeted a photo to prove it (see right).

Shooting is currently underway on Machete Kills, with Danny Trejo once more starring as the all-action title character. We don’t know what Sheen will be doing as the President, but he joins a cast that also includes Mel Gibson, Sofia Vergara, Amber Heard, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba and Tom Savini.

It’s set to hit cinemas next year.

Sofía Vergara has found a lot of fans for both her beauty and comedy acting thanks to Modern Family, but now she’s going in a slightly less funny direction, as Variety reports she’s in negotiations to join the action sequel Machete Kills for director Robert Rodriguez.

The actress will portray Madame Desdemona, a leather-clad mistress whose harlots have information for Machete (Danny Trejo). She joins a growing cast which also includes Mel Gibson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jessica Alba, Amber Heard, and Demián Bichir.

Robert Rodriguez is directing from his own original screenplay. Production is scheduled to begin very soon in Austin, Texas.

Isn’t it about time Mel Gibson just admitted defeat and went off to live in a hole somewhere? However it doesn’t seem to matter what fresh nuttiness is revealed about him, he keeps getting shots at public rehabilitation (which he largely squanders). Now he’s in talks for a role in Machete Kills, which would give him the sort of action part he’d be incapable of securing in a studio movie at the moment.

It’s not certain he’ll be in the movie, but Robert Rodriguez has apparently reached out to Gibson, according to Deadline, and wants him for the sequel. It was known a while back that Rodriguez had Mel on his wishlist and that’s now turned into official talks.

Machete must battle his way through Mexico to take down a madman cartel leader and an eccentric billionaire arms dealer who has hatched a plan to spread war across the planet with a weapon in space. Machete takes on an army in an effort to dismantle a plan for global anarchy.

Rodriguez plans to make the movie in the next few months before going off to shoot Sin City: A Dame To Kill For. It’d make sense for Mel to take the role, as he’s desperately in need of some good PR.

Mickey Rourke, Danny Trejo, and Anthony Michael Hall certainly make for an interesting cast, and according to Deadline they’re all teaming up for the action western Dead in Tombstone, for director Roel Reiné.

The story follows Guerrero Hernandez (Danny Trejo), the leader of a Mexican group of outlaws who is double-crossed by his half-brother (Anthony Michael Hall) while trying to break him out of prison. One year later, Hernandez makes a deal with the Devil (Mickey Rourke) to be resurrected so he can seek revenge on his half-sibling, in a town fittingly named Tombstone.

Roel Reiné is directing from a screenplay by Brendan Cowles and Shane Kuhn, with shooting set to begin next week.

If you liked Machete, you’ll be pleased to hear it’s getting a sequel, as Robert Rodriguez and producer Alexander Rodnyansky are teaming up for Machete Kills (which is the current title, but it may change). It’ll be the second in a planned trilogy of grindhouse style movies.

“The fan response to the Machete character has been fanatical since his first appearance,” Robert Rodriguez said. “Machete is truly a super hero and Machete Kills will be bigger and more ambitious than the first time.” Danny Trejo is in talks to reprise the title role, with Rodriguez expecting many of the original cast to return.
