It seems to be the week for actresses taking on ambitious directing assignments, as yesterday it was revealed Scarlett Johansson was planning to tackle Truman Capote’s Summer’s Crossing and now Variety reports that Julie Delpy will direct a biopic of Clash frontman Joe Stummer, called The Right Profile.
Although there are few details on the exact direction the movie will go, it’s believed that the film will cover most of Strummer’s life and music, including his disappearance from the spotlight in 1982. Delpy is a pretty good choice, as she did a good job with Two Days In Paris and The Countess, and is currently finishing work on Two Days In New York. The real key now is finding the perfect actor to play Strummer himself.
Just to keep her extra busy, Ethan Hawke recently revealed that he looking to team up with Delpy and director Richard Linklater for a third entry in the Before Sunrise/Before Sunset series. As there were 11 years between the first two film, it might be worth them waiting another coule years for the third.
