You’d think that as the Oscars is all about celebrating the best movies of the year, the poster for the event would celebrate the modern. However the Academy Of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences is harking back to Oscar winners past on the poster for the 84th ceremony, which takes place on Ferbruary 26th, 2012.
The image includes pics from the last eight decades of cinema, including Gone with the Wind” (1939), Casablanca (1943), Giant (1956), The Sound of Music (1965), The Godfather (1972), Driving Miss Daisy (1989), Forrest Gump (1994) and Gladiator (2000). All thsoe films won the Academy Award for Best Picture, except Giant, which won George Stevens the Oscar for Directing.
Apparently ‘the design is meant to evoke the emotional connections we all have with the movies’. Hmm, okay, not sure about that, but it’ll do!
