We haven’t seen Robert Redford on screen since Lions For Lambs in 2007, but it seems he’s keen to get back in front of the camera as he’s currently making The Company You Keep and now Deadline reports that he’s eyeing another acting project, teaming up with Margin Call helmer J.C. Chandor for All Is Lost.
While Margin Call was set in the financial sector during the recent economic meltdown, All Is Lost would see Redford swimming with more literal sharks. Described as a man vs. nature drama, it seems the movie takes place entirely on the water and would be largely just Redford on-screen. The movie is described as being somewhat similar to Sydney Pollack’s classic 70s western Jeremiah Johnson, which starred Redford as a man trying to live a quiet life in the middle of nowhere, who ends up fighting Grizzlies and becomes the subject of a vendetta with the Crow Nation.
The production is looking at Baja Film Studios in Mexico, which holds the giant water tank used by James Cameron for Titanic and Michael Bay for Pearl Harbour. Shooting is currently pencilled in for next May, and Chandor will be desperarely hoping he can get Redford to sign on, as he wrote the script specifically with the star in mind.
