With Bruce Banner/Hulk hogging several of the most talked about moments in The Avengers, it’s little wonder there’s already speculation about whether Marvel will bring the character back in a standalone film.
After a bit of digging around, several sites are suggesting it’s likely, with Collider having chatted to actor Mark Ruffalo, who said he signed one of Marvel’s standard six-movie contracts, suggesting he’ll stick with the character for a while to come (and had such fun with The Avengers, he doesn’t mind that at all).
However the firmest news comes from Marvel consumer products chief Paul Gitter, who told Forbes (via The Playlist), that if the popularity of Hulk continues to grow the company will spin him off to a stand-alone TV program next year, supported by a big budget franchise movie in 2015.
It’s still early days though, as recently Marvel Chief Kevin Feige was insistent there were no Hulk movie plans, saying “I mean, this was the third appearance of Hulk and everything that we had and were going for, we put in to Hulk’s appearance in ‘Avengers.’ So, I love that people are saying that and are feeling that way about Hulk, but mission accomplished at this point.”
However, he might not have been expecting the audience reaction to the character in The Avengers. We’ll have to wait and see whether we do get yet another Hulk flick.
