Just yesterday, we reported that Michael Keaton, Emma Stone, Naomi Watts, and Zach Galifianakis had signed up for Alejandro González Iñárritu’s upcoming comedy Birdman. With filming due to start in April, he’s got plenty more parts to fill, and now he’s got another heavyweight hitter in his cast, as Deadline reports that Edward Norton has joined the movie.
The movie is about an actor (Michael Keaton) who is mainly associated in the public consciousness with playing an iconic superhero on the silver screen. Since then his career has been on the slide, so in an attempt to revive it, he stages a Broadway show based on a Raymond Carver short story. Edward Norton is playing the egotistical lead actor in the play, who jeopardizes the success of the show and will be the film’s main antagonist. Emma Stone is set to play Michael Keaton’s daughter, Naomi Watts is an actress starring in the play, while Zach Galifianakis plays the stage production’s producer.
Alejandro González Iñárritu is directing from a screenplay he co-wrote with Alexander Dinelaris.
