Luke Evans will be going high-octane in a few months for Fast & Furious 6 and after that it seems he’ll be re-teaming with Universal Pictures for the horror project Dracula Year Zero, according to THR.
The actor beat out others such as Tom Hardy for the role, but Universal was apparently so impressed by Evans’ performance in Fast & Furious 6 that they wanted to find another project for him. The film was initially set up with Sam Worthington attached to star and Alex Proyas directing, however that fell apart due to budget problems. Dracula Year Zero moved to Universal Pictures last February, with Gary Shore signing on to make his directorial debut.
Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless wrote the latest draft of the screenplay, which blends mythological fiction and real history. The story follows the historical figure Vlad the Impaler (Luke Evans), who was the inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula character.
It isn’t known when the movie will shoot.
