Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara could make for an interesting team, so let’s hope they live up to their promise in Don’t Mess With Texas, a project that Universal Pictures just acquired after a heated bidding war, according to Deadline.
John Quaintance and David Feeney wrote the spec screenplay, which is about a female cop and a prisoner who end up on the run together in Texas, trying to outrun a group of corrupt police officers. There’s no other info, and we don’t even know if it’s a thriller or a comedy (the title suggests the latter).
Universal is putting this project on the fast track, with production to begin in March 2014. However before then they need to get a director, so hopefully that will get sorted soon.
