DreamWorks has picked up the rights to Paul Kix’s upcoming book Noble Assassin, and they’ve already got a director attached, as Cary Fukunaga (Jane Eyre, Sin Nombre) has signed on, according to Deadline.
The film tells the true story of Robert de la Rochefoucauld, who was a mercenary for the French Resistance during World War II. He was trained in the dark arts and partook in the destruction of train stations and munitions factories. The war veteran also endured months of torture and escaped his own execution.
The book will be hitting U.S. shelves this October.
The film isn’t likely to shoot for a while, as Fukunaga is first set to make Beasts of No Nation, which recently added Idris Elba to star.
