Richard Gere has slowed down the pace of the number of films he makes, and it’s only now that he’s planning his first starring role since last year’s Arbitrage (let’s forget his cameo in Movie 43, which even he didn’t want to do), as ScreenDaily reports he’s signed up for the indie drama Fanny.
Gere will play ‘a fun-loving philanthropist who works his way into the lives of a newlywed couple to recapture the life he once had.’
Andrew Renzi’s will make his directing debut with the film, working from a script he wrote himself. The film will be looking for buyers at the Toronto International Film Festival, with shooting planned to commence in October.
