Brian Perceval’s novel The Book Thief has fast become a bit of a modern classic. Now it’s been turned into a movie, which will be getting an Oscar-bait US release in November. Now the first trailer has arrived.
The Book Thief centres on Liesel (Sophie Nelisse), a spirited young girl who witnesses the horrors of Nazi Germany while in the care of foster parents (Geoffrey Rush and Emily Watson). The girl arrives with a stolen book and begins collecting other tomes, learning to read while her stepparents harbour a Jewish refugee (Ben Schnetzer) under the stairs. Rush’s character first takes in the young girl for money but soon comes to love her.
