It’s about a year since Juan Carlos Fresnadillo bailed on the planned remake of Highlander, and we haven’t heard a vast amount it since, apart from the fact potential star Ryan Reynolds is also out. However, no Summit Entertainment has hired visual effects supervisor Cedric Nicolas-Troyan to direct the movie, according to Deadline.
The original movie is about an immortal Scottish swordsman called Connor MacLeod (Christopher Lambert). He is mentored by Ramirez (Sean Connery) and spends centuries dueling other immortal rivals. After taking out most of his kind, he find himself fighting for his life against the murderously brutal barbarian Kurgan (Clancy Brown). They fight to become the final remaining immortal, who will influence the future of mankind. There can be only onee.
Cedric Nicolas-Troyan is directing from a script by Iron Man writers Art Marcum and Matt Holloway. Neal H. Mortiz, Peter Davis and Justin Lin will be producing. It’s Nicolas-Troyan’s first feature film as director, but he has a long track record in visual effect, scoring an Oscar nomination for Snow White And The Huntsman.
